Tree Decorating Party Mrs. Roscoe Potter and members of the M.Y.F. went Into the woods Monday after noon and cut a Christmas tree to be used In the church during the holiday season. After night they met at the church and put the tree up and decorated it. Later they cooked and pulled taffy and popped corn. Prayer Group Meeting The Methodist Ladles Prayer Group met Wednesday morning at the home of Miss Charlotte Chestnutt and Mrs. Nancy Hun ter. Devotional reading and prayer was led by Mrs. Roscoe Potter and Mrs. Fred Archer. Mrs. Hunter and Miss Chestnutt were each presented a gift. Members attending were Mes dames Roscoe Potter, William Potter, Joseph Rouse, Fred Ar cher, John Rich and David Bar nett. Civic Club Party The womas Civic Club held Its December meeting with a Christmas party and covered dish supper on Monday night at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Quinn. The Christmas motif was carried out. There was a Christmas tree and gifts for all. The supper was delicious and everyone had a very enjoyable time. Family Night Observed The woman's Auxiliary of the First Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church met Monday night, December 5 at the Com munity Building. Family night was observed with twenty-one members and their families present. A delicious picnic style sup per was served before the meet ing began. The meeting opened by sing ing "Silent Night" followed wfih prayer by Mrs. R. M. Brown. The Rev. R. M. Brown read the scripture and made a talk. The devotional closed with a song, "Joy to the World. The roll was called and names were drawn for a secret pal for the coming year. There was a Christmas tree , with gifts for everyone. The program, Traditions of Christmas, was led by Mrs. Mattle Cavenaugh. Others tak ing part were Mesdames F ran ees Hall, Florence Dall, Janie Cavenaugh, Emma Lee Howard, Essie Pope, Grace Malone, Louise whaley, Mary Ann Ho ward and Nelda Malone. The group also sang "Silent Night" and "O Come All Ye FuthfuL' During the business meeting minutes were read and the roll called by the secretary, Mrs. Mary Ann Howard. It was de cided to give two elderly mem bers who are ill a gift at Christ mas. The president reminded members to save Christmas cards with religious pictures to be sent to the missionary school In Mexico. At the end of the business meeting gifts were exchanged and names were drawn for a secret pal for the coming year. Mrs. Emma Lee Howard closed the meeting with prayer. The hostess served refresh ments of cup cakes, potato chips, Christmas candles and drinks.
