Mississippi were registering Thursday, Septem ber 7, for the 1967-68 school Year at James Sprunt Institute In Kenansvllle. Register of Deeds Attends School Mrs. Christine W. Williams, Dupll n County Register of Deeds and Assistants, Mrs. Ruth S. Herring and Miss Jenell Klrby attended a two day school at the Institute of Government In Cha pel Hill on Friday and Satur day, September 8th and 9th. Instructions were given on the forteen (14) bills enacted by the 1967 State Legislature affecting the operations of the offices of the Registers of Deeds in North Carina. Instructors for the school were: John Sanders, Director of the Institute of Government; Taylor McMillan, Asst. Director of the Institute of Government; Ed Hinsdale, Asst. Director of the Institute of Government; George ? Mosely, Director of the Uniform Commercial Code, Division of the Secretary of State; Clyde Smith, Corporations Attorney, Office of the Secretary of State; D. M. Pltney-Bowes, Stamford, OonnectlCT*. ^ ?** Highlighting the school were instructions on the transfer of the probate duties from the Office of the Clerk of Court to the Register of Deeds on Oc tober 1st and the transfer on January 1st of the Corporations 1 Records from the Clerk to the Register of Deeds and the new Real Estate Stamp Tax to be collected by the Registers of Deeds beginning January 1,1968. The 1967 State Legislature made more changes in the du ties and rsponslwllties of the Registers of Deeds than the combined changes made by the State Legislatures during the past fifty (50) years. BRIEFS Homecoming At Kenansville Baptist Church The annual Homecoming will be observed at the Kenansville Baptist Church on Sunday, Sep tember 17. Rev. Lauren Sharpe will conduct the service. Special music will be ren dred by Mr. Welch at the or gan and Mrs. Brisson of Clin ton will sing. A picnic linch will be held after the services.
