Boyd of West Main Street had all of their childre n at home last week end with the exception of their daughter and her hus band who had illness in their home in Raleigh. Coming home for the family get-together were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rouse and children Jollnda and Todd of Greenville, N.C.; Mr. Zilbert Boyd of Martinsville, Va., and little granddaughter Donna Lindsay of Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. John Foxworth (Paula Newton) of Raleigh were week end guests of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Braddy at their home on Main Street. Mr. Eris Rouse of Jackson ville, visited with his mother, Mrs. W. L Rouse of Center Street on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ram sey were in Raleigh for two days recently ^tending the meeting of the Top Farmers of America which was held in the Sir Walter Hotel. On Thursday evening they attended the ban rheld by the organization in Sir Walter and heard Dr. Butz. who is now a candidate for Governor for th$ Stafe of Indiana make the principaTid dress of the evening. "> Guests o f Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Henderson this week have been their grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Ay cock of Chinquapin. Mr. Aycodt has just returned from a tour of duty with the American Arm ed Forces in Korea. He has re ceived his discharge, upon com pleting his term of service, and arrived home for a visit on Monday. The Aycocks expect to return to their former home in Kernersville, where Mr. Ay cock holds a position with Swift and Company. Other guests of the Hender sons on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. William Earl Lanier and chidren, Ranny, Joe and Ste phen of Pittsboro, and Mr. El wood Henderson of Chapel Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Wade F arrlor of Greensboro spent Sunday in Rose Hill as guests of Mrs. Farrior's parents, Mr . and Mrs. J. D. Jerome. Charles W. Brown, Jr. of Pembroke College has returned to school after spending the se mester break with his parents at their home on Route 2. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rhodes and children, Howard and Nancy visited Mrs. Rhodes parents. Mr. and Mrs. ElwynG. Murray, Sr. the past week end. On their way from their home in York town, Va. to Rose Hill they came by Kinston and visited their grandmother, Mrs. W. B. Murray, Sr., who is in the hos pital there. David Hawes of Campbell College was home for the week end with his parents. Dr. and Mrs. C. F. Hawes. Mrs. Bill Waters has re turned from an extended visit of several months to her daugh ter and family, the James Blakes of San Carlos, Califor nia. She flew back to Richmond and visited her daughter Mrs. Jack Shank. Mr. andMrs. Shank accompanied her to Rose Hill on Saturday. Birth Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brock of Kinston announce the birth of a son in Lenoir County Hospital on Thursday, January 25th. The baby weighed approximately 8 pounds. B. Bradshaw has re turned home to recuperate from his second cataract operftlon which was performed In New Hanover Memorial Hospital earlier this month. His condi tio n is progressing satisfac torily. Mr. Rlfton Bradshaw of the Island Creek Community is serloudly ill In Duplin General Hospital. His friends andfamily sincerely hope for his recovery and return home soon. Mrs. C. L. Falrcloth remains in the Duplin General Hospital as of this writing. Her improve ment is noted, but is very slow. Mrs. Naomi Brock of Route 3, has been In Duplin General Hos pita 1 with a broken Shoulder. She has been discharged from the hospital now, and is with her son, Nathaniel Brock in Jacksonville. Mrs. William Brock of Route 2, is ill. Her trouble has been diagnosed as erysipllas and she has been sick for a week or more. We hope she will soon be up again. Albert B. Wells has been quite ill at his home on Main Street for several days, but is feeling much better and hopes to be out this week. Mrs. David Murray returned Thursday from Sampson Me morial Hospital where she has been a patient following a heart attack two weeks ago. Mrs. Murray is feeling meat better and her friends and family are glad t o have her able to be at nome again. We are glad to hear that Jimmy Longest is able to be at hii home ilv Raleigh again after being confided, to Memorial Hospital in Chanel Hill since November, Jimmy and his fa mily are happy to be together, although he has to spend every other day and night in Rex Hos pital taking treatments for the tenacious fungus called cryp tococcus. ff he Keeps responding to the treatments this ordeal will last only five weeks longer and he will be released from the hospital. Their address is Brlarcliff Road, Raleigh, N. C. Mrs. W. B. Murray, Sr., mo ther of Mr. E. G. Murray and Misses Katie and Ruth Murray of Rose Hill, was operated on last Tuesday for a broken hip. She responded well to the sur gery and is now resting from it In Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston. C. F. Hawes, Sr. is a patient in New Hanover Memorial Hos pital In Wilmington. Also the prayers and many kind nesses snown him and his family are greatly appreciated. He will remember and appreciate these expressions always and be grateful for sucn friendship shown to him. Mr. Curtis Robinson, who has been confined in New Han ove r Memorial Hospital, Is grateful for the prayers and visits of his friends, and also wishes to thank them for their cards, letters and kindness shown him in other ways while he was a patient there. Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Hallle Usher of Rose Hill announce the engage ment of their daughter, Brenda Kaye Hacher to Mr. Oliver Wayne Smith, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert H. Smith of Magnolia. A February Wedding Is planned. Mrs. Martha Maora Scott Rose Hill friends were sad dened by the news of the death of Mrs. Martha Moore Scott on Sunday, January 28th, 1968. Mrs. Scott, was born and grew up In the Concord Community on RFD 1 near Rose Hill. She lived all of her adult life in our town until it became ne cessary, by illness, for her to receive more professional nursing care. She had made her home with her sister and bro ther-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Fuss ell, before entering the Onslow Pines Rest Home in Jacksonville. Here she was near her niece, Mrs. Bruce Teachey, Jr. On be coming more seriously ill a week or so ago she was taken into Onslow County Hospital and there died on Sunday morning. For many years "Miss Mar tha" was town clerk of Rose Hill and was much liked by all ci tizens for her cheerful man ner and friendly approach She had many friends among people of all walks of life and was well-loved by all. She was a life Tone member of .the Bapcift Ctourcn and was an active participant in all ac tivities of the Order of die Eas tern Star. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will mourn her passing. Her funeral was held in Rose Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday of this week at 2 p.m. and she was buried in Concord Cemetery by the church of her childhood. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Charles E. Sparks, mi nister of the RoSe Hill Metho dist Church. Jaycees Have Special Guest The Rose Hill Jaycees held their regular meeting on Tues day January 23rd at the Rose Hill Restaurant. The meeting was conducted by the president Mr. Dewitt Miller. Special guests at the meeting were Charles Harrell of Mt. I 92. who died in the Wayse Me- - mortal Hospital in Goldsboro on Tuesday, January 23. U*tl a year ago. Mr. Tate lived in his home here and was 4 very active nonMenarian, but since I then had Seen living in the Forest Hills Nursing home in Goldsboro. His son H. A. Tate, Jr., lives in New ^ern.
