Jacksonville, N. C.. to Mr.
Jerry Michael Merrltt, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Merrltt
of Wallace, was solemnized
Sunday rfternoon, January 21.
at four o'clock * the bland

Hill. Rev. R. D. Rigglns, pas
tor of the church, performed the
ceremony.
Mr. Herman Merrltt, father
of the groom, was best man.
Usher-groomsmen were Glenn
Merrltt, brother of the groom;
Mike Hawes, brother of the
bride; Maurice Hawes, cousin of
the bride; and Terry Rooks,
cousin of the groom.
The maid of honor was Miss
Nancy Rouse. The matron of
honor was Mrs. J. C. Thomas,
aunt of the bride. Serving as
bridesmaids were Miss Bkenda
Thomas, cousin of the bride;
Miss Sophia Bland; and Miss
Donna Knott.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore
a semi-fitted A-line satin gown
with yoke, elbow-length scal
lop-edged sleeves, and cathe
dral train of imported Italian
lace. Her shoulder-length veil
of illusion was attached to a
fully-opened flower made of
the same lace and satin. She
carried a bouquet of white or
chids and phalaenopsis. Both
the gown and veil were made
by tne bride's aunt, Mrs. J. C.
Thomas of Wilmington, N. C.
All of the bride's attendants
were dressed identically in for
mal gowns of yellow bonded
crepe with empire bodices and
trains of gold floral brocade.
They wore nats of yellow crepe
flowers attached to bows of die
floral brocade. They carried
bouquets of deep yellow roses
tied with green velvet ribbon.
J. C. Tnomas, uncle of the
bride, sang "Because," "O
Promise Me." aid "TheLord's
Prayer," accompanied by Mrs.
W. L. Register, who also play
ed the traditional wedding
march and other selections.
Mrs. Hawes, mother of the
bride, wore a beige dress of
bonded knit with Drown ac
cessories and wore acors age of
red tea roses. Mrs. Thomas, ,
grandmother of the bride, wore
a bonded, knit dress in green
with black accessories. She
wore a corsage of green cym
bidium orchids.
Mrs. Merritt, mother of the
groom, wore a navy and white
suit of wool with matching navy
accessories. She wore a cor* -
sage of red roses. Mrs. Mer- '
ritt, grandmother of the groom,
wore a teal blue wool dress
with navy accessories. She also
wore a corsage of red roses.
The couple, along with the
wedding party, received friends
in the vestibule of the church
after the ceremony.
After a short honeymoon, the
couple will reside in Key West,
Florida.
The wedding was directed by
Mrs. R. D. Riggins.

anti-freeze. The program was
enjoyed by the members
