ASCS Again in 1968, Duplin County farmers will take part in apro gram administered by the county committee. They will re port the acreage of program crops and diverted acres at the ASCS county office. This new "do it youself" system is called producer certification or compliance by certification. For many years, men em ployed by ASCS visited each farm taking part in a program and measured the program acres. Now, farmers are fur nished up-to-date photocopies of farm aerial photography. Our farmers have received this year's photocopies. They show farm boundaries and in most cases have field acreages clearly marked. If problems arise we will be glad to help. Also, any farmer wishing to be sure of correct acreage, may pay the required cost and JSSLf Handicapped SOUTHERN PINES - The North Carolina Society for Crippled Children and Adults plans this year to send more than 200 handicapped North Carolinians to Us Camp E aster In-the Pines, according to Mrs. Graham Culbreth, vice presi dent and Camp Committee chairman. But, she pointed out, with re cord numbers of applicants for the camping program, the need for Increased Easter Seal funds Is greater this year than ever before. "Camping and recreation are essential to the normal social development of any child who Is separated In any degree from able-bodied children," Mrs. Culbreth said. "So It Is of more importance than ever before that the people of North Carolina give their generous support to the Easter Seal Appeal." Camp E aster-in-thePlnes opens June 16, and closes Au gust 8, with four two-weekses sions for children and adults. Under the supervision of Mrs. Betty Llddell, Camp Coor dinator, a staff of well trained counselors experienced In working with crippled children directs a full program of ac tivities including swimming, boating, fishing, nature lore, . arts and crafts, overnight campouts, camp fires and sports especially adapted to the handicaps of participants. "A visit to Camp Easter-ln the-Pines is often the first opportunity these handicapped children have to gain first-hand knowledge of nature and living, learning and playing with other children," Mrs. Llddell said.
