The reception was given by the faculty and staff members of the schpol aid friends of the Magnolia School Community. Around 250 fri ends, and present and past stu dents of the honorees called during the evening wishing them much happiness in their re tirement. Presented to Miss Home at the reception was a beauti ful silver tray and candle sticks. The tray was engraved "Teach er-42 years-Magnolia School". A tray was also presented to Scott s Store Fifteen Yeers Married Life Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Ben nett celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary Sunday, May 19 at their home, Albert son, Route 1. At noon a barbecue dinner with all the accessories tomake a good meal was served. She Is the daughter of the late Jordan C. aid Betty Florence Horne and was born and reared in Magnolia. She Is a graduate of Fairfax Hall In Waynesboro, Virginia and East Carolina College. Miss Horne, a life long member of the Magnolia Bap tist Church, has beat a teacher In the Primary Department for 35 years. Miss Horne Is also active In Civic affairs of the town and Is a member of the Woman's Clrlc Club. Mr. Thomas Is retiring d ter completing a teaching career of 33 years. He was born In Troy N. C. and la a graduate of Troy^High School and N. C. State College. He taught In the Rose Hill and Fairmont City Schools prior to coming to Magnolia. He came to Magnolia in 1947 aid worked with the Farm Veterai Program. In 1952 he became principal of the Magnolia Sch ool for one year, in 1953 he began teaching the 8th grade under Principal J. W. Newkirk. In 1956 Magnolia High School was consolidated wltn Kenans ville and Warsaw and he be came principal and has served as principal since. Mr. Thomas is a member of the Methodist Church where he teaches a Sunday School Class and is a member of the Board of Stewards. Mr. Thomas is active in the Civic affairs of the town and is a member of the Town Board. He has also been a member of the Rehobeth Ma sonic Lodge 279 since 1935. He is married to the for mer Melba Quinn of Magno lia. They have two children, Mary Alice, who is graduating from UNC-G at Greensboro ana Frank a Junior at Guilford Col lege. I Perry HalhA.
