Mrs. Joe Jones returned home from Parrotts Hospital where she was a patient last week and Is getting along well at this time. < Birthday Celebration Mrs. Sarah Kennedy cele brated her 66th birthday Sun day at her home. Her nine children, all of the grandchild ren and 2 great-grandchildren were present. Each one car ried a picnic lunch and spread it and enjoyed the day together. She had friends from the community and from out of the community to spend the day with her. They were: Mr. and Mrs. Hennery Kennedy and family and Mrs. John Matthew Kennedy from Sanford; Mr.Ste Ken Kennedy of the Potters' 11 Community; Mrs. Gaynell S;ram, and Mrs. Ellinor Whit eld of Kinston; and Mrs. Lou Kaiser of Jacksonville. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Kornegay of Kenansvllle visited a while in the afternoon. Wedding Prayer"-was used as the benediction. The traditional wedding inarches were used. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of white peaude sore styled witth an empire waistellne. The bodice was designed with a rounded neckline and sleeves ending in Coll a points over the hand. The Chapel train of peau de-soir trimmed with lace matching that around the bottom of the gown, fell from the brides shoulders. Her elbow length veil was held by a hand made headpiece of peau de soir and seeded pearls. She carried a white Bible centered with a white orchid accented with white satin streamers. Mrs. Maxine Sholar, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. She wore an ankle length gown of gold brocade sa tin styled similar to the brides gown. Her headpiece was a matching gold hood made rose bud with a circular veil. She carried a long stem yellow mem. Mr. Ed Foster, brother of the groom, served his brother as best man. r Ushers were: Mr. Diirwood James of Wallace, brother of the bride, and Mr. Robert Castle of Cherry Point, brother-in-law of the groom. The bride's mother chose for her daughters wedding an ice blue crepe dress with navy accessories. She wore a white cymbldlum orchid corsage. The groom's mother wore a two piece dress of green and white with white accessories. She also wore a white orchid. The bride's gown and vlel was designed by Mrs. Grace Sumner of Beulaville. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Pat James of Wallace, sister-in-law of the bride. For her going away attire the bride wore a pink crepe dress with black patent ac cessories. Her corsage was the white orchid lifted from her BUile. The bride Is a 1967 grad uate of East Duplin High School and is presently employed with Civil Service at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The groom Is a 1966 grad uate of East Duplin High School and Is now serving with the U, S. Navy. CAKE CUTTING On Thursday night, May 2, following the rehersal, Mr. and Mrs. Ruelan James entertained members of the wedding party Mid dote friends at a c?ke cut ting ? their home on ft. 2, Wal lace. The table was covered with a white cloth overlaid wttfc net. Sliver bells and satin bows *ere also used to accent the table. An arrangement of white daises with burning candles waa placed in the center of the table. After the bridal couple had cut the first slice. Mrs. Amle Gurganus, Aunt of the Bride, served the three tier wedding cake, topped with s miniature bride and groom to the guests. Mrs. Irene Murray. Aunt of the Brtde, assisted by serving punch from s crystal bowl at the other end of the table. Mints and nuts were also served to the ^proximately 20 guest at tending. The wedding cake was made and decorated py an Aunt also, Mrs. Annie Gurganus. Personals Mrs. Margaret Bratcher and Mrs. Margaret Coombs shopped in Kinston on Tuesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Elvis Sumner made a business trip to Kinston on Friday. Mr. Leon Grubbs. a minis terial student at Mt. Olive Col lege, was guest speaker at the Beulavllle Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, May 26. Five of the seniors who are graduating from East Duplin High School this year will be honored at the Beulavllle Free will Baptist Church on Sunday, June 2. Mr. Philip Allen Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown, Is spending sometime with his parents. Philip is stationed with the U.S. Air Force In Flo rida. His future wife Beverly of Florida is also with them.
