Jr., and Miss Fanchen Eubanks of Houston, Texas, were quests of Mrs. Eu banks' parents Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes Young, for the past week. While here they spent several days at Wrigntsville Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Young and Bobby Lanier of Wallace accompanied them to Wrights vtlle. Mr. and Mrs. Beaufort Long est, Mr. Philip Longest, Miss Georgia Hall of Wallace and little Lynn Longest attended the wedding last Sunday of Miss Hope Glover of Lake Waccamaw to Danny Longest in the chapel of the Air Force Base at Bi loxi, Mississippi. Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Longest, Jr., of At lanta also attended the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. David Geddle Fuxsell and baby Dave, of Dur ham. were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J.Tussell, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Johnson^ Diane, Bob, and Mary Anna Johnson spent last week at Jeck yll bland, Georgia, where he was attending a meeting of the South Eastern Poultry and Egg Association. The family en aed the water , golfing, and er holiday attractions while away. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Bon ham, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Riley, Buddy Bonham and V.H. Rouse, Jr., are enjoying a trip to the mountains this week . They are making their head quarters at Font an a Dam while visiting all the nearby points of Interest. Miss Lee Burton Alderman and brother, J. B. Alderman, of Jacksonville spent the past week with their grandparents, Mr. ?????oinuuuouucinonnnn and Mrs. L. K. Alderman. Mr. and Mrs. James Exby, with their sons Mike and Ver non. are visiting Mrs. Exby's mother. Mrs. J. E. Vemon, for a while. The Exbys are from Reno, Pennsylvania. Misses Sally and Cynthia Brown of F ayettevllle are vlsl tlns their grandmother, Mrs. J. L. Lanier, Sr., at her home on RFD 1. Patrick Pope, of Fayettevllle Is the guest of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Wilson. Around fifty or more Rose H1U citizens attended the Jim Gardner meeting In Dunn.N.C., on Friday night, and report that much enthusiasm was shown by the large number of people pre sent. Mr. and Mrs. Dan J. Fussell, Sr., Mrs. Murphy Slngletary, Mrs. Murphy Slngletary. Jr., and daughter Elaine, Miss Lisa Fussell, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Fussell, Jr., and son Craig have all returned from a visit at their cottage at Kure's Beach. Reverend and Mrs. Charles E. Sparks and daughters, Mandy and Janie, are on vacation this week, and next week and are spending It at their summer home on Masonboro Sound. Layman's Day will be ob served at the Rose HUl Meth odist Church next Sunday. As sistant Wilmington District day leader Jesse Sumner of Burgaw will preach and Beu Harrell, lay leader of the local church, and Thurmond Fields will assist with the service. Mr. and Mrs. Bronson Mat vey of Greensboro have moved from Greensboro to Rose Hill and are living in their mobile home on the Rhodes Young Trailer Park. Mrs. Matvey is the former Miss Mary Jes MISS GEORGIA CHERYL HALL Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Hall, Jr., of Wallace announce the engagement of their daughter, Georgia Cheryl, to Mr. Philip Worth Longest, son of Mr. ana Mrs. Beaufort B. Longest of Rose Hill. The wedding will take place on August 25th. \ sle Rogers and Is a Rose Hill community native. Mrs. Herbert Lanier with chil dren, Dennis and Denlce, of Vir ginia Beach are visiting Mrs. Lanier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Klssner here. Mr. Cecil Herring, C. B. Her ring. Jr., Miss Gail Herring, Randy and Allen Herring, all of Cum mines, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Greer of Atlanta, Georgia, are visiting with Mrs. Raymond Harrell oftthe Charity Community. Recent guests of Mrs. Flo rence Cavenaugh were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Christian and son John of Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Mickey Pagano of Long Island, Mrs. Jack Holmes and children, Paula and David, of Upper Darby, Pa. SENTINEL With Tkt Sick Mr. Ulysses Henderson of West Main Street In Rose Hill has returned home from Cape Fear Hospital alter having eye surgery. He Is doing fine and Is sure his operation for ca taracts will help him a great deal. Mr. Willie E. Fussell Is slowly gaining a little strength after heing 111 at his home in Rose Hill. He has been sitting up some and can ride out a little. He hopes to be able to go fishing by early fall. Friends will regret to learn that Mrs. C. L. Falrcloth, Sr., has been returned to Duplin General Hospital for observa tion and further treatment. We hope that she will soon show improvement. Mrs. Doane Fussell has re turned from New Haiover Me morial Hospital, where she re ceived surgery last week. We hope for her a complete re covery. Mrs. Lee Sheffield is a pa tient in. North Carolina Mrs. Rackley Entertains Mrs. Felton Rackley enter tained with a lovely luncheon at he r home on Ridge Street on Saturday. Guest of honor was her sister. Mrs. William Eu banks, of Houston, Texas, who Is visiting in Rose Hill. Luncheon was served from the buffet table in the dining room and the guests were shown to the huge family room with their plates. For dessert. This is the first grade child ren's picture of Rose Hill School in 1930-31 and they are a nice looking and neatly dressed gr oup for the "most part". Congressional Candidate Visits Rose Hill On Saturday afternoon at 5:40 the Herb Howell Caravan stopped at the Rose Hill Repub lican Headquarters and was met there by the local Republican Committee and other members of the party In the Rose Hill precinct. On the second row are Ethel Carr Herring who is now Mrs. J. S. Zowistowski of Jackson ville, N.C., Ethel Carr married a marine and has lived in many interesting places, including Hawaii; Annie Ruth Brown, second on the second row, is Mrs. Eldridge Carter of Caly pso; Lila Mae Carr, third on second row is now Mrs. Dan Johnson of Kure's Beach; India Register is Mrs. John Moore of Rose Hill, who loaned us both pictures; Vera Cavenaugh . . ? Is now Mrs. Jack Christian of Jacksonville, Florida, and was at home last week for a visit; and Marvin Johnson still lives in Rose Hill, is president of Nash Johnson & Sons Farms, Inc., and fishes and golfs now and then. On the third row we see all boys and they are as follows; Marvin Register now works for the Thurston Truck Lines and lives in Wilson; David Lee Dixon is almost hidden by Marvin Re gister. but he is there. He is now a barber in New York; L. K. Alderman, standing close by David Lee, now lives in Jack sonville and gets home ofter; Henry Ward lives in Rose Hill and works with Community Oil Co.; Norwood Dixon still lives In Rose Hill; John Wilton Mal lard lives in Raleigh and is manager of the Sanoers Motor Co.; and Cecil Worsley, the next little boy on the end, is Pre sident of the Worsley Oil Co., of Wallace.
