Urged limited early opening of markets other than those in the Old Belt. Opposed excise taxes on toba cco products at the State, Co unty or Municipal level. Urged all warehouses to follow the practice of reserving floor Space for growers. Called for accelerated research on to bacco mechanization. Delegates also endorsed pr esent farm programs "until uetter programs are developed to Improve prices" and mar keting; expressed support for a move to modernize the interest rate structure In North Caro lina; opposed any additional St ate or National controls on fire arms and called for a thorough investigation of the State's br oiler industry to expose "unfair and unjust trade practices" th* might exist. She Is a native of Johnson County but moved here with her husband and family 47 years ago. Nine of her thirteen children are living, most of whom celebra ted her birthday with her. They are: Mrs. Jeannle Howell, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Clara Albertson, Kenansvllle; Jim Ruffln, and Richard pick) Atkinson, all of Kenansvllle, Rt. 1; Mrs. Mildred Murray, Kenansvllle, Rt. L Mrs. Elizabeth Vhitman, Kenansvllle, and Mrs. Wlllowlean Baker, Vanceboro. She also has 40 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Atkinson Is presently not as active as she wants to be because of a leg Injury, but she Is keenly Interested In all her surrounding and looks forward to the time when she will be out "chopping, digging and raking leaves again!" She no longer keeps house which gives her more time to Visit her family ana friends. Mrs. Atkinson Is a charter member of Sarecta Methodist Church and attended regularly until about 6 months ago.
