held its annual Training Union
"M" Night at the Inaianuel
Baptist Church of Clinton, on
Monday evening, December 2nd.
The overall theme was the
"TRAINING FOR CHRISTIAN
INVOLVEMENT."
One of the high-lights was
the Youth Choir from Sharon
Baptist Church of Chinquapin,
brough special music. Instead
of a main speaker there was
several Interesting features ,
including a film entitled "I Don*t
Want To Get Involved." This
was of great Interest to all ?
Christians.
Our assoclational god was
exceed 300, which was the *
tendance last year. Every
church In the Eastern B^xlst
Association was urged to be
represented even if they have no
Training Union, because die
program planned was helpful
to all churches.

Frances Folson Cleveland, at

Observes Culture Week
Culture Week each year
begins on Tuesday and ends on
Saturday. The North Carolina
Literary and Historical As
sociation. established In 1900
and the oldest of all the soc
ieties. meets the first Friday of
December. The other organi
sations holding their sessions
concurrently, schedule their
meetings accordingly.
It's on to Charlotte for Cul
ture Week! The Society for the
Preservation of Antiquities will
have Its program to begin on
Thursday with a meeting of the
officers md board at8:30AJd?
followed by the Morning Meeting
? 10 AJrf. which win feature
stimulating reports with slides
of preservation progress in
North Carolina.
The luncheon session at
1 P.M. will feature an address
by Sylvester K. Stevens, Ex
ecutive Director of the Pennsy
lvania Historical and Museum
Commission and Chairman of
the President's Council for His
toric Preservation.
A reception for all of the
societies will be held at the
Lineberger Mansion, 400 Her
mitage Road, from 4:00 to 6:00
P.M. This exciting day of the
Antiquities Society will con
clude with an Evening Meeting
beginning at 8:00 PM. At
this time the Ruth Coltrane
Cannon Cup Awards will be pre
sented and those present will
enjoy a program of entertain
ment which will be followed at
10:00 P.M. with a reception
given by the Society for its
members and guests.
Directors of the Society will
consider several ideas for in
creasing the service of the So
ciety at the Charlotte Meeting.
One suggestion is that die So
ciety help arrange restoration
workshops in the various sec
tions of North Carolina. . . .
