(AHTNCh Anny Private Larry G. West brook, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs Paul G. Westbrook, Route 1, ai lit i soi, N.C., completed niw weeks of advanced Infantry training Nov. 22 at Ft. Polk. La. His last week of training was spent in guerrilla warfare exercises. During his guerrilla train* lng. he lived under simulated Vietnam conditions for five days, fighting off night attacks and conducting? raids on "enemy" villages. He was taught methods of removing booby traps, setting ambushes and avoiding enemy ambushes. James R. Winley TAINAN, Taiwan ? Stalf Ser geant James R. Winley, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Winley of Rt. 1, Kenansville, has re enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at Tainan AB, Taiwan. Sergeant Winley, a supply inventory specialist at Tainan, is a graduate of Charity High School, Rose Hill. The sergeant's wife, Florla, is the daughter of Mrs. Evelyn Burnette of S3 Lenox Ave., New York. Bobby Teachoy U.S. ARMY, VIETNAM (AH TNC) - There is one Army badge that front-line soldiers wear proudly - the Combat Infantryman Badge. It was awarded to Private First Class Bobby Teachey, 19, in Vietnam, Nov. 24. Pvt. Teachey, a 1966 grad uate of Charity High School, Rase Hill, is assigned as a rifleman to Company C. 2nd Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division's 27th Infantry. The CIB has been awarded since late in World War D for sustained ground contact against an enemy. In honor of its singular mean ing, the badge is worn above all other awards and decor ations, over the left breast. (FHTNC) No*. 1 ? Gunners Mate Second Class Perry E. Mohley, USN, 37, son of Mrs. Nancy A. Mobley of Chinqua pin, N.C., and husband of Mrs. Bettie L. Mobley of 11435 E. Hadley St., Whittier, Calif., was awarded a Commander Seventh Fleet Letter of Commendation. The presentation was made during ceremonies aboard the Naval destroyer USS Turner Joy at Long Beach, Calif. He earned the award for achievement while serving as Gun Repairman aboard the Turner Joy off the coast of Vietnam. According to his citation, he was in charge of the mainten ance of five inch. .54 c?nh? gun mounts, and served as Mo unt Captain. He displayed exceptional pro fessional ability, perseverance and tireless energy in the per formance of these duties. Although the men of "C" Co., on Hill 22 located north of Hill 10, were able to get through to Da Nang with no problem. Marries of "D" Co. were resupplied by AmTracs from die battalion area. Dyson's wife, Betty Lou, lives on Route 4. ? ??? ?mane I Fireworks Confiscated A Duplin County merchant has been charged with illegal pos session of [pyrotechnics. Robert L. Jackson, Rt 2, Mt. Olive, who operates a store in the Scons Store area has been Charged with possession of lit rge quantity of fireworks which were confiscated by the local sheriffs department. Sheriff T. Elwood Revelle signed the warrant after a se arch of the store and surround ing buildings, yielded a quanti ty of fireworks. Bond was set by Magistrate WJ.
