Guthrie- Herring Vows Spoken Miss Peggy Ann Herring, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Burke Herring, of Rose Hill, and Marvin Davis Gu thrie. Jr., son of Mr.and Mrs. Guthrie, Sr., of Chase City. Virginia, wereunited in mar riage at three thirty Saturday afternoon July 28th at Mount ZJon Presbyterian Church in Rom Hill. The Rev. W. Clark Porter III. pastor of the bride, offi ciated. The vows were spoken before a background of palms and burning tapers in circular candlebra. The kneelipgbanch was cushioned in white satin and satin hews marked the family pews. Mr. James Aycock, organist of Fremont, presented a pro gram of nuptial music. Mr. and Mrs. William B. Saunders, of Concord, sang "Savior Like a Shepkerd Lead Ua" as a^eft Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love" and Mr. Saun ders sang The Lord's Prayer" following the vows. The bride, given in Mar riage by her father, wore a formal gown of white silk or ganza over taffeta. The eye let embroidered empire bodice featured a high neck line with self ruffle, Vene tian lace interwoven with white satin ribbon and short puffed sleeves. The full skirt with bands of lace and double raf fles at the liemline was topped with a bow in the hack and extended into a sweep train. Her cathedral length veil cf imported illusion was attached to a half Juliet cap of riffled eyelet and Venetlan lace. The gold necklace she wore was the gift of her great grand father, W. B. Soutberland, to his bride 9* carried a nose# gay of wfcite carnations, miniature pink roses, gypso phila and fetn with flowing white satin streamers Miss Joan Gregory of At , lama. Georgia, cousin of the bride, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Megan Hood, of Charlotte, cousin of the bride. Miss Jackie Tate of Goldsboro end Miss Karen Futch. All the attendants wore gowns of pink and white checked seersucker fashioned with a ruffled scoop neckline, short puffed sleeves and slightly' gathered sidrt. The inset waist featured! sash in the back. They carried nospgays of pink daisies, gy ptopnila and fern with pink satin ribbons. Mr. Guthrie served as his son's best man. Ushers were Ricky Guthrie, of Chase a?. ? .talaia. brother of gloom; Burke Herring, bro ther of the bride; Alfred Ward, cousin of the bride, and George Beam, of Clarksvllle. Virgin la.' Mrs. Herring chose for her daughter's wedding a Jacket dress of pink lace and crepe. The groom's mother. Mrs. Guthrie, wore a dress of lace * I trimmed blue crepe. Both wore white orchid corsages. Mrs. OOfcar James, maternal grandmother of the bride, wore a dress of bine lace and a corsage of white roses. The wedding was directed by Mrs. W. H. Saunders and Mrs. C. F. Hawes. Jr. The bride is a graduate of Peace College in Raleigh The groom is a student at North Carolina State University, Ra leigh, where both Mr. and Mts. Mr. and H Mrs Keith Mobley and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Ward 'assisted in receiving the guests. Goodbyes were said to Mr and Mrs. Uooel Ja mes. After the reoeptkw the bride and groom left for a wedding trip to the mountains of Vir ginia.
