Three concerts (two world-renowned), trill be presented: Josh Greco and his Dancers with Nana m Lorea's Flamenco Dance Theater; The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and; Broadway Babies i Crovup. ' , ?' The Tar Heel Pine Arts Society is unique among cultural organisations in the State of I North Carolina because it is the only fine arts society which is county oriented. I Membership in the Society is composed of individuals interested in cultural activities K/ who annually support the association with their membership fee of $7.50 or more. The ' Board of Directors has at least one representative from each area in Duplin County. This Society was organized under the auspices of James Sprunt Institute in 1965 with the purpose of the Society being to plan, coordinate, promote, and sponsor cultural activities, thus promoting all types of fine arts including drama, art, music, and ?h literature. ? 1973-74 promises to be top performers that famlies and all ages will surely enjoy. During an Informative evening of songs, four talented young performers will trace the growth and development of the American Musical Theater from Its early beginning to the Broadway musicals of today through a study of various composers, trends in musical styles and choice of subject matter. The performance will include selections by Victor Herbert, Sigmund Rhomberg, Rudolph Friml, George Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein and others. The members of ^the cast are all exciting performers in New Orleans will r i '? Orleans music ito the area. These musicians created the music in the legendary bands of New Orleans and in the parades and saloons and dance halls. They are among the few living P?- jazz musicians who originated the style, and their average age is over 60. March 26, 1974 JOSE GRECO and his Spanish Dancers with Nana Lorca's Flamenco Dance Theater: this troupe of dancers is regarded as the greatest and most exciting group of its kind in the world. Jose Greco's name has been synonymous with the Spanish Dance in this Country for over a decade.
