Hosts were their children and families: Edgar Murphy of Alexandria, Va., . Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murphy of Metairie, La., Mrs. Earl B. Mathews of Pass Christian, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Murphy of Long Beach, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Murphy and Miss Lynn Murphy, both of Albertson. Mrs. Murphy was presented a white orchid corsage and her husband wore a yellow rosebud boutonniere. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wallace. In the receiving line with the honored couple were their children. Magnolia leaves and lighted gold (apcrs were used throughout the building. A short program of background music was presented by Edgar Wells, Jr. The refreshment table, covered with a white lace cloth, was centered with a two-tier candelabrum which was filled with yellow roses, pompons, butterscotch daisies, babies'-breath, and yellow candles. The four tiered cake, decorated with yellow roses and topped with yellow and white wedding bells, was served by Mrs. Reuben hilltop. Serving punch was Mrs. Lawrence Maready and Mrs. Charles Bell. Other refreshments consisted of ham biscuits, chicken salad in patty shells, cheese dainties, potato nut bread, zucchini bread squares, mints and toasted nuts. Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Dan Wallace, Mrs. Eddie Eason, Mrs. Ann Korncgay and Mrs. Johnny Gainus. Approximately 150 guests called during the appointed hours. The couple was married June 27, 1929 in the home of the bride by the Reverend L.A. Harvey. Faison News ?? Little James Edward Lanier is now 4'/i months old. Homemakers Club Mrs. Milton Rice was hostess for the South Kenansville Homemakers Club when it met Friday. The president, Mrs. J.B. Stroud, presided. The opening song was led by Mrs. Louise W. Mitchell, and the devotional was conducted by Mrs. N.B. Boney. The program was in charge of Mrs. Ellis Vestal, the Family Life Leader. She discussed the Family Living Seminar that she attended in Raleigh in June. Plans were discussed to go the Rose Hill Restaurant for the August family night on the 17th. Mrs. W.M. Ingram told of several books she had recently read from the approved reading list, and Mrs. Mitchell discussed the International Year of the Child. For refreshments, Mrs. Rice served cake and punch to the nine present. United Methodist Women The afternoon circle of the United Methodist Women met Monday afternoon, July 9th with Mrs. Walter Smith. Mrs. Viola W. Quinn made the opening prayer and pre sided over the meeting. Mrs. W.M. Ingram presented the program with all present taking part. The topic was "Choosing the Twelve Disciples." For refresh ments the hostess, assisted by her daughter Ann, served punch and cookies to the six present. Mrs. Earl Hardy was the hostess for the evening cir cle. Mrs. Dixon Hall presided and had charge of the program. The topic for discussion was "God's | Image Reflected in Wo-| men." After the closing I prayer by Mrs. Bruce Butler, I the hostess, assisted by Di laine Hall, served orange delight salad, cookies, and lemonade to the seven mem bers and three visitors present. Baptist Circles The Cora Stokes Circle did not meet this month, but the Ella Cooper Circle met Mon day night with Mrs. Willard Brinson, at which time Mrs. Charles Yelverton was co hostess. Mrs. Geraldine Hatcher had the Call to Prayer and Mrs. Yelverton presented the program. The closing prayer was made by Mrs. Ray Bell. For refresh ments the hostesses, assisted by Mrs. Jack Brin son, served peanut pie and solar punch to the nine ladies present. Presbyterian Women Mrs. Amos Chestnutt was hostess for Circle #1 of the Women of Grove Presby terian Church Monday after noon, July 9th. Mrs. A.T. Outlaw made the opening prayer and presided. Mrs. J.B. Stroud moderated the Bible Study from Mark. She was assisted by Mesdames Ralph Barwick, Winford Howard. Thomas Chestnutt, N.B. Boney, Mrs. Amos Chestnutt and Mrs. Outlaw. The topic was "Passion Week ? Women Were There." After the closing prayer by Mrs. Barwick. the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Stroud and Mrs. Thomas Chestnutt, served frozen fruit salad and iced tea to the nine members and two visi tors present. Circle #2 met that night with Miss Margaret Wil liams. Mrs. J.J. Wells pre sided and conducted the Devotional on Christianity in Switzerland. She also moderated the Bible Study from Mark. After the closing prayer. Miss Williams, assisted by Mrs. Lloyd Stevens, served three-fruit sherbet and cookies to the seven ladies present. Eastern Star Joyce Williams, Worthy Matron, and Kermit Wil liams, Worthy Patron, were in their respective stations last Tuesday night when Kenansville Chapter #215, Order of the Eastern Star, held its regular bi-monthly meeting. A highlight of the meeting was the impressive program given "by the Worthy Matron, Star points, and other officers honoring the station of Ruth, with Mrs. Viola W. Quinn filling that station of the yellow ray. Members were reminded of the official visit of the Worthy Grand in Clinton on August 2, and of the District school in Rose Hill on August 4. CLASS OF 1942 REUNION Saturday following the "big reunion" in Kenans ville, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hall entertained at their home for the Gass of 1942. Guests arrived around five o'clock and spent about an hour enjoying hors d'oeuvres and sharino old Dictures and memories, and bringing each other up-to-date on mar riages, children, and grand children. During this time, Mr. Hall gave each member of the class, as well as the two teachers present, a picture of their graduation, blown up large enough so that each could tell how much the others had changed. Guests were served o?) the patio. The school colors of black and white were used to carry out the theme. Each table was laid with a white cloth centered with a black candle, and the numbers 1942. The menu consisted of grilled steak, stuffed shrimp, baked potato, tossed salad, pound cake, home made ice cream and iced tea H|^nwnnH| After dinner, five of the classmates, John Hall, Mamie Jackson, Katherlene Lanier. Russell Brown and llene Hudson and the two teachers, went to Beulaville to see Grover Grady, a classmate, who could not attend due to illness. Guests attending were: Miss Louise Ellis of Raleigh and Miss Jessie Raiford of Goldsboro, teachers of the class; Mrs. Dororfhy Sykes, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ald ridgeof Kinston, Mrs. James A Jerritt of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Caroline Jerritt Strong of Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brown and Stephen of Rose Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Guy of Magnolia, Mrs. Mildred Ketchside of Warsaw, Mrs. Margaretta Wright of Rocky RiVer. Ohio. Mrs. Katherline Wells of Teachey, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Craft. Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Booth, and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Stroud of Kenansville (Jimmy was one of the class mascots.) Guy CLASS OF 1953 REUNION On Sunday, July 8th, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sanderson were hosts to his Kenansville High School graduating class of 1953 at their home in Rose Hill. Barbecue pork and chicken with all the trim mings was enjoyed by those class members, spouses, and children attending. Two former teachers, Mr. Z. W. Frazelle and Mrs. Pearl McGowen of Kenansville also were present. This oc casion prompted reminiscing about the years shared, during school and each one's life since graduation. Another reunion was planned for September 27, 1980, at a place to be desig nated later. This class would like to express its appre ciation to those who planned the Kenansville Reunion weekend, which everyone enjoyed so much. Best of Charlotte. 1 i 1 PUBLIC HEARING ON | AREA AGING PROGRAM i The Neuse River Council of Governments who is the designated agency on Aging for Planning for the Elderly will hold a public hearing on the FY 1980 area aging plan which encompasses the counties of Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico and Wayne.
