Kenansville News Sliver Streaker* Twenty-two senior citizens known as Silver Streakers met Monday morning in the fellowship hall of the Kenansville United Methodist Church for their regular monthly meeting. Mrs. Stuart Hall called the meeting to order and asked the Rev. J.C. Stokes. Jr. to make the opening prayer. After a short business ses sion. the program was pre sented by 37 members of the E.E. Smith Jr. High School Glee Club directed by Valerie McCoy. Pianists were Joy Whaley and Felicia Wash ington. Following the pro gram. hot chocolate and/or coffee, orange juice and doughnuts were served. Liberty Hall Bridge Club Mrs. W.M. Ingram was hostess for the Liberty Hall Bridge Club Wednesday with Mesdamcs E.S. McGowan and Martha P. Sitterson as additional guests. Mrs. Stuart Hall won high score prize for members and Mrs. Sitterson for the visitors. Between progressions. Mrs. Ingram served pineapple cake and coffee. U.M.W. Circle Friday afternoon the after noon circle of the Kenans ville United Methodist Women met with Mrs. Viola W. Quinn. Mrs. Quinn called the meeting tc order and presided. The opening prayer was made by Mrs. H.D. Taylor. Mrs. W.M. Ingram was in charge of the program, and her topic was The Life and Teaching of Jesus. A social hour followed the meeting, during which Mrs. Quinn, assisted by Mrs. O.P. Johnson, served cookies, nuts and coffee to the eight present. Mrs. Lockamy Hostess Mrs. Rebecca 0. Lockamy was hostess for the Thursday night bridge club last week with Sue Hix, Jane Phillips and Elva Quinn as additional guests. Sheila McKay won the high score prize and Barbara McKay the second high. Kay Stroud won the traveling prize. For refresh ments. the hostess served a sweet course with choice of coffee or coke. Birthdav Celebration Little Jamie Lanier, son of Kim and Keith Lanier of Beulaville, became one year old Feb. 20. He was born premature and weighed three pounds and Hiree ounces. He now weighs 19 pounds. He is the grandson of Mrs. Peggy Hoffman of Kenansville and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lanier of Beulaville, who helped to honor him with a party last week. Others helping him celebrate were his aunt, Lori Hoffman from ECU, Timmy Nethercutt, and Larry Hoff man. They all enjoyed the cake and ice cream. K.L.U. Occupational Therapy Student Alora (Lori) J. Hoffman, laughter of Mrs. Peggy Hoffman and the late Jim Hoffman, has received her letter of acceptance into the department of Occupational rherapy at ECU in Green ville. Homemakers Clubs The South Kenansville Club met with the Warsaw ind Stanford Homemakers dubs in an area meeting at [he WTRQ conference room Thursday night, Feb. 21. Mrs. Clarence Murphy, president of the South Kenansville Homemakers Club called the meeting to jrder and presided. After group singing led by Mrs. lack Brinson, the devotional was conducted by Mrs. Ingram. She used Psalm 118 ind stressed The Excellence >f Our Lord, and offered a irayer. Nine members of the South Kenansville club were present with 11 visitors, six members represented Stanford and three from Warsaw, with two other visi tors present, making a total of 31 present at the meeting. The next area meeting will be held in May, with the time and place to be announced later. The District meeting will be held in Raleigh April 8. Plans for that meeting will be finalized at the March meetings. Members are urged to check their calen dars. Birthday Dinner The children and grand children of Mrs. Viola W. Quinn entertained for her with a dinner held at The Country Squire Saturday, Feb. 23 to celebrate her 80th birthday. Her sons from Vir ginia were unable to be present, but others attending included Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Quinn and two children of Reiglewood, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Quinn of Zebulon with their two chil dren. Mrs. Winnie Vereen and Linda of Columbus, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Pittman and two children, and Mrs. Wilmer Gray Allen of Jacksonville. There were 16 present including the honoree.
