*s Son | Of A Gun by Joe Lanier ^ The Duplin County Board of County Commissioners on May 19th went into executive session to discuss personnel. . .A couple of items that would not come under the heading of personnel that were discussed behind the closed doors were. . . the disposition of the south wing of the hospital, as Well as whether or not to fill a position at the Agricultural Extension office. . . .Personnel, Mr. 0 Commissioners, is people 1? not buildings or positions... ????? Sometimes we end up at the wrong place at the right time and sometimes we don't have what we think we do. . .Either one is em harassing. . .Wallace Mayor Melvin Cording was invited to throw out the first ball of this year's Little League season in Wallace. . .Well, he practiced his curve, his slider, and really got his arm in shape.. .So, on that first day of baseball season, he went to Clement Park. . .Got there IS minutes early and hung around for half an hour to 45 minutes.. .No one showed up, so he went home. . .Must have misunderstood the day, he thinks. . .However, he was at the wrong ballpark. . .The festivities Q took place at Art Meyers Field.. .They couldn't find him, so they went ahead without him... About a week ago, Duplin Times staffer Marie Riddick, went to the band festivities and took and took and snapped and snapped picture after picture. At development time, it was discovered the camera was without film... Both incidents were embarassing, but it would have really been something to talk about if Marie had turned up at the wrong ballpark to take Mayor Cording's picture with a camera with no film, at a ballpark with no ballgame. . .Son-of-a-Gun....
