DARNELL-ALBERTSON ENGAGEMENT - Mr. and Mrs. Charles Albertson of Beulaville announce the engagement of their daughter Pamela of Greenville, to Michael Jerome Darnell of Greenville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Darnell of Tobaceoville. A June 14th wedding is planned in the Beulaville Presbyterian Church at 6 o'clock p.m. No invitations are being mailed in Duplin County. All friends and relatives are cordially invited. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Elwood Revelle of Warsaw announce the engagement of their daughter, Connie Marie, to Dwight Evans O'Neil of Durham, son of Mrs. Mike Halvcrson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mr. Joseph O'Neal or New Buffalo, Michigan. The wedding is planned for June 21 at 7:00 p.m. in The Warsaw Baptist Church. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend the ceremony. Kenansville News SUver Slret?Kvr* The Silver Streakers (a group of Sr. Citizens of the Kenansville Area), held their regular monthly meeting at 1 O'clock on Monday night. May 19th. in the fellowship hall of the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Stuart Hall called the meeting to order and asked the Rev. Troy Mullis, retired Presbyterian Minister to make the opening prayer. Mrs. Hall welcomed the twenty people present ahd presided over a short business session. During this period Mrs. Mary B. Mullis was chosen Secretary-Trea surer of the group and plans were discussed for a trip to the Dinner Theatre in Raleigh on June 12th, and for a Dutch supper at The Fish erman's Wharf in Jackson ville on June 16th. In lieu of a program an auction sale was held with Alice Brown Rich in charge. A social hour followed. T.ftC. Club Met Mrs. Kenneth King was hostess for the Town and Country Bridge Club Tues day night, May 20th, 1980 at 8 o'clock with Mrs. Doc Brinson substituting for an absent member. The hostess and her husband filled in for other absent members. Mrs. B.S. McGowan captured the high score prize and Mrs. Brinson was also given a gift. For refreshments, Mrs. King served apple pie and iced tea. Personals Mr. and Mrs. A1 Payne of Raleigh visited Mrs. Robert Hollingsworth last Sunday P.M. Mrs. Baxley of Laurinburg visited her sister, Mrs. Faison McGowan on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Sy Toitle baum of Decatur, Ga. and Mrs. Wilbur Adams of Caro lina Beach visited their sis ter, Miss Margaret Williams recently. Mrs. Newton has returned from Pike. Iowa after a visit there with the Victor Morrows. Mrs. Faison McGowan and Mrs. Stuart Bell made a business trip to Greenville on Wednesday. Mrs. E.C. Tyndall and Mrs. N.B. Boney accom panied Mr. and Mrs. Troy Mullis to Mt. Olive on Wednesday afternoon to the funeral of Miss Carrie Swinson, aunt of Mrs. Colon Holland. Mrs. Amos Brinson ana Mrs. Hazel W. Scott spent Wednesday In Pikeville with friends. Mrs. and Mrs. Larry Stevens of Evansville, Indiana spent several days recently with her mother, Mrs. Mabel Burgess. They all attended the graduation at UNC in Wilmington on May 17th, when Neil Murphy received his B.A. degree. Mrs. Wynona Hayden and Mrs. Edith Huggins, also Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Allen of Wilmington were among the out of town guests here last week for the Hewitt Booth wedding. Mrs. Michael Flanagan and two children of Scotland are visiting her sister, Mrs. Tom Rife. Rev. Troy Mullis and Mr. Arthur Wood attended the Men of the Presbyterian Church Rally at Camp Kirk wood on May 17th. Mrs. Alma Baker of Beula ville visited Mrs. A.T. Out law one day last week. They made a business trip to Rose Hill. Mrs. Viola W. Quinn spent the weekend with the Bobby Pittmans and Mrs. Wilmer Gray Allen in Jacksonville. Mrs. Myrtle Quinn spent Sunday night in Rose Hill with the Gene HalH. She accompanied them to HarreJ's on Sunday P.M. to the Baccalaureate Serman. Grady Science Fair B.F. Grady Elementary School held its annual Science Fair recently. The projects were arranged into four categories: The Atmos phere, Earth Science, Energy, and Life Science. There were also some group projects. RaeLene Young won first place in The At mosphere category with her transparencies and recorded account of percipitation. Lisa Kelly won second place with her display of the hydrolic cyle and Mike Lindsay and Faye Komegay tied for third with displays of convection currents and a psychrometer, respectively. Eugene Sutton captured first in the Earth Science category with his erupting volcano. Barbara Martin won second with her model show ing the earth's interior and Ginger Lewis' plate tectonics won third. The Energy category was won by Camile Grady, nu clear energy; Laura Smith, nuclear fission; and Kim Smith, light, first, second GENESCO ANNOUNCES PROMOTION Cover Girl Shoe Stores, a division of Genesco, Inc., announced the promotion of John A. Johnson, Jr. to the position of Area Merchandis ing Manager as of February. 1980. Johnson was manager of the Manss Store in River gate Mall. Nashville, Ten nessee and had also man aged five other stores in the Cover Girl chain. His respon sibilities including control of all inventories, merchandis ing and budgeting for thir teen stores in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and North Carolina. He reports to Mr. Ron Loxsbury, Gerneral Merchandise Manager and Assistant Operations Chief. Johnson, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, is a native of Warsaw and the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Johnson, Sr. and third respectively. The Life Science first went to Candace Gross, green house effect; second to Bonnie Hafel, greenhouse effect; and third to Toni Garner, insects. The group projects win ning honorable mention were Life Cycle of a Pine Tree, Bean Sprout Snacks, and Permeability of a Membrane. The judges were Dr. Alice S. Scott, assistant superin tendent; L.B. Stevens, a retired educator; and Gene Outlaw, an educator and swine producer. Mrs. Hazel Kornegay, science teacher for the junior high students, concurred with the judges that the fair was one of very good qualit; During the awards assembly she expressed appreciatio to the participants for the enthusiasm .and perse verance. Pink Hill Liberty Festival Liberty Run \ 10 Kilometer (6.2 miles) - ui. plus a 2 mile fun run will he held during the Liberty i\al at Pink Hill, on ...urday, June 28.
