Henry Lewis Cli airman Mrs. William Gifton pre sided and opened the meeting with prayer for our new President and gratitude I for the release of the hos , tages. The program. "Chil dren of the Kingdom" with emphasis on love and trust of our children, was presented by Mrs. Lewis, assisted by Mrs. C.R. Lewis. I CSlPrayer and self denial was the theme of the meeting and an offering was taken by Mrs. Kenneth Davis, presi dent of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Hampton I Hatcher, secretary, read the 1 ' minutes and collected dues. Refreshments were served to Mrs. Nell Joseph, Mrs. William Oifton, Mrs. C.R. Lewis, Mrs. Will E. Lewis, Mrs. Gebourne Moore, Mrs. Pearl Bradshaw, Mrs. Hampton Hatcher and Mrs. Davis. Students on Trip Approximately 40 students of North Duplin High School took a trip to the N.C. Marine Resources Center at Bogue Banks at Morehead City recently. They viewed a film, and visited the touch-tanks, where the visitor can hold marine specimens such as starfish and sea urchins. They also saw sharks, crabs, sea turtles and an eel. After wards the group went to Fort Macon. Honored on Birthday Mrs. Annie Jackson was honored with a dinner at the Country Kitchen on her birthday on Saturday. At tending were Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Jernigan, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. McCullen, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Rose, Sharon Rose, Mandy McCullen and Faison Mc Cullen. Afterwards a dessert pfirty was held at the Jackson home in Faison with Mrs. and Mrs. Randy McCullen and Chandler and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Davis attend ing. News about the Neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sutton visited Mrs. Julian Bragg in Wilson Memorial Hospital in Wilson Sunday. She is an operative patient there. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Morgan and Mrs. Kathleen Stanley of Calypso visited Mrs. Lila Mae Smith Sunday. Mrs. Maria Kennedy of Ginton visited Mrs. Susan Kennedy Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Crow attended the annual Boys Club banquet in Mount Olive Tuesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Oates Jr. and Cathy spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Oates Sr. Rev. Clarence A. Lingle Jr. and Elder N.F. McCol man attended the Wilming ton Presbytery meeting at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church in Wilmington Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Cottle and Mrs. and Mrs. Hugh L .T- ? ' 1 * Oates of Mount Olive spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Oates Jr. in Washington, D.C. and At lantic City, N.J. last week. Mrs. Lillie Mae Jernigan spent the weekend in Smith field with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pearsall. Mrs. Kermit Williamson and Ginny of Clinton spent the weekend with Mrs. Ralph Precythe. Mr. and Mrs. N.F. McCol man, Rev. and Mrs. C.A. Lingle. Mr. and Mrs. A.D. McNeill. Mrs. James E. Faison and Jane attended the winter ceremonial of the Shrine Club in New Bern last weekend. They attended the installation of Robert Safrit Jr. of Beaufort, a relative of the Faisons as 1981 Poten tate on Satu: day night. Mrs. Mosley C. Bowden was hostess to her Chatter Club Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Alice Benson and Mrs. Wilson King Sr. have returned home after treat ment in Duplin General Hos pital. Mrs. Susan Kennedy visited friends in Medical Park Nursing Home in Mount Olive Sunday. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Taylor and daughter of Warsaw, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Jackson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Ceness Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Lewis, Mrs. Tom Taylor and Murray Lewis. They enjoyed barbe cue and all the trimmings. Kenansville Recreation ^ Commission Plans The Kenansville recreation commission is inviting all who plan to enter a team in the 1981 summer recreation to do so now. This will include adult Softball Dixie Youth baseball and any youth teams. Carey Wrenn, a member of the commission, said tljat it is most important CrMt a representative of each team be present at a meeting to be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 at the United Carolina Bank at 7:30 p.m. Wrenn said that if a coach, sponsor or repre sentative cannot be present that they can contact him at UCB to express their inten tions. Wrenn said that the com mission intends to schedule teams so they can play twice each week and therefore it may be necessary to put a limit on the number of adult Softball teams. Wrenn also said that the commission would like to prepare an early schedule for all of the < events to be held at the Municipal Park. j Grady Basketball ?''Fighting off a sluggish beginning, B.F. Grady Panthers defeated Beulaville 36-18. During the early minutes of the first quarter, it looked like Beulaville would pull away. Settling down, the Panthers rolled up 10 points while holding the opposition to just two points, litis new hope of light con tinued to shine, guiding the Ainthers to a victory and allowing all an opportunity to plav I Eugene Kennior scored 11 points to lead all scoring in the game. Buddy Gardner led the Panters in rebound ing. collecting nine rebounds while pumping in 10 points. , Reggie Newberne had seven points. Milton Nobles came in and scored three points at the free throw line. Earnest Matthews and Rickie Herring both scored two I points each. Michael New- ! berne added one point.
