Elwell-Fulcher United In Marriage w: W_l f U.intinntnn W Vo lvuas maiamc lcc ruiuici and Mr. Richard Arthur El well were united in marriage ftat four o'clock, April 24 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone by the Reverend David Long. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Douglas A. Clark of Kcnansville and Dr. Thomas 0. Fulcher of Statesville, formerly of Kinston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Elwcll of Coventry. Connec ticut. ft The vocalist was Miss Kim Clark of Winston-Salem. The church was decorated with ivory candles, greenery and baskets of spring flowers. Escorted bv her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory sheer organ/a featuring a Queen Anne neckline of silk venrsc lace and bishop sleeves. The designer look ^was accented with a straight sleeve inside the full sleeve trimmed with the same venise lace and Finished by a wide cuff. The empire line skirt of whispering chiffon fell into a chapel train. The bridal veil was a waltz length mantilla of pure silk illusion edged with matching lace.- The bride carried an arm! bouquet of pink and sonia roses, babies'-breath ?and violets. On her little Finger she wore an antique ring, a gift from her great grandmother. Mrs. Reta Ad kins of Huntington, West Virginia. THe maid of honor was the bride's sister. Miss Andrea Fulcher of Raleigh. Brides maids were her cousin. Miss Shcrl Hodge of Huntington. W.v'a.. Mrs. Jane J. Bar ^nctte of Greensboro, and Mrs. Jane M. Rex of Boone. They were attired alike in waltz-length ivory gowns edged in laee with a match ing sash. Each carried a single sonia rose and wore in their hair a sprig of babies' breath. The bride's cousins. Christen and Craig Williams of Raleigh, served as flower ^girl and ring bearer. The Pflower girl's dress was of lilac batiste and was trimmed in lace. She carried a basket of rose petals and violets. The ring bearer was attired like the ushers in an ivory tux and wore a boutonniere of violets. The best man was Mr. Joseph F. Sansone of Coven try. Connecticut. Ushers fewere John DeFrino of Clin 'ton. Connecticut, and his brothers. William Elwell of New Orleans. David Elwell of Boston. Mass. and Robert Elwell of Willimantic. Conn., and the bride's brother. Thomas Fulcher Jr. of Wrightsville Beach. The bride is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Hawshaw of Hunting ton, W.Va., and Mr. and ^Mrs. William W. Fulcher of Bedford, Va.. formerly of After the ceremony, a re ception wa$ held in the Center for Continuing Education at Appalacian State University. The bridal table was decorated with baskets of spring flowers and the tiered ivory cake was sprinkled with violets. After a brief honeymoon in the North Carolina mountains, the couple will make their home in Boone. The bride and groom both arc graduates of Appalacian State University. The bride formerly served as legislative secretary to her step-father. Representative Douglas A. Clark (D-Duplin). She is now elections supervisor for the Wautauga County Board of Elections. The groom is assistant manager of Pro Am Sporting Goods in the Boone Mall. The bride's mother is an advertising consultant with a Wilmington radio station. ( Harper-Johnson Vows Spoken Amy Lynette Harper of Deep Run and John David Johnson of Kinston were united in marriage at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 11 in the Deep Run Free Will Baptist Church in Deep Run. The Revs. Melvin K. Ever ington of Kinston and Adrain Grubbs of Deep Run officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and was escorted to the altar by her father. She is the daughter of Mrs. Isabelle Harper of Deep Run, and William B. Harper of Kinston. The groom is the son of Ms. Frances Sutton, and Roger Johnson Jr., both of Kinston. The bride wore a formal gown of white organza, outlined in re-embroidered rose point chantilly lace beaded with pearls. The gown featured a Queen Anne neckline and a semi natural A-line waist. The lantern sleeves were accented with fitted cuffs of deep rose point chantilly lace and beaded pearls. The skirt featured a crystal panel of pleats in front which extended into a cathedral train edged with a double row of matching lace and beaded pearls. Her fingertip veil of illu sion was fedced in re embroidered rose point chantilly lace and beaded pearls. She carried a bou quet of pink silk roses with a pink throated orchid center accented with baby's breath, greenery, and white and pink bridal ribbons. Attendants Mrs. Joyce Smith of Deep Run was the matron of honor. Misses Rhonda Deaver and Nonie Steinmetz, both of Kinston, served as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Nor ma Wiggins of Snow Hill, and Ms. Melanie White of Kinston. Miss Tonya Williams of Beulaville was the flowergirl. The groom chose his father to serve as best man. Ushers were D. R. Hill Jr., Eric Johnson and Roddy Garris, all of Kinston; Tommy Harper of Deep Run; and Joe Wig gins of Snow Hill. Pianist Marilyn Hrotz ac companied vocalist Carol Johnson of Kinston. Ms. Clara S. Barwick of Deep Run directed the wedding, and Rhonda and Robin Harper, both of Kinston, presided at the register. The bride is a 1978 graduate of South Lenoir High School, and a 1980 graduate of Lenoir Com munity College. She is presently employed by East Federal Savings and Loan in Kinston. The groom attended North Lenoir High School, and is presently employed by Food Town Grocery in fUnston. After a wedding trip to the beach, the couple will reside at Kinston Rt. 8. On April 10, a bridesmaids luncheon was held at the B & S Restaurant in Deep Run in honor of the bride's atten dants, and the mothers and grandmothers of the cou ple. Mrs. Clara S. Barwick of Deep Run hosted the oc casion. A rehearsal dinner was given at the B & S Restaurant in Deep Run on the eve of the wedding. The groom's father hosted the event with the wedding party and family members as guests. A reception was held im mediately following the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the church. Assisting during the recep tion were Dot Grady, Wan da Meadows, Edna Earle Smith, and Marcia Harper. Assisting in serving were the bride's cousins. ? Couple Wed In Spain Jaunita Baez and Harold David Korncgay Jr. were married the sixteenth of January at Five ocloek in the afternoon in Bethany Evan gelical Church. Number 7. Fray Isidore de Scvilla Street. Seville, Spain. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Korncgay Sr. of Albert son. The bride's father is Senor Baez of Seville. Her mother is de ceased. Santos Garcia, an elder of the bride's church, officiated at the ceremony and preached a beautiful sermon on marriage. A friend. Mr. Schiffer. had the closing prayer. Immediately following the ceremony, the church was host at a reception. A seven tiered wedding cake and Spanish-style hot chocolate were served. TEAM mis sionaries from America, their families and friends from evangelical churches in Seville, Coria del Rio. Moron dc la Frontera. Uterca. and other friends attended the wedding. An Italian friend of the bride tame from London. After a wedding trip to Mijas (Malago) on the Midi terranean coast, the couple returned to Caceres 4. Moron de la Frontera (Sevilla) Spain, where they are ministering to a church. The couple was showered with gifts from friends and relatives in Spain. Germany and America. A "money tree" was sent from the groom's home church. Woodland United Methodist Church in Albert son. The bride is a missionary, hating served with OM (Operation Mobilization), an international mission, at their London headquarters and she has worked as a home missionary, doing Bible studies with children in Sevilla. She is an artist, illustrating Christian books for children. The groom is a graduate of East Duplin High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While a student at the uni versitv. he studied two years with the "Year-at-Sevilla" program at the University of Seville in Spain. For five years he has worked closely with TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission of Wheaton. Illinois) mission aries in Sevilla. in church founding. Bible studies, and music.
