Beulaville News Gerald Davis of Kinston visited Mrs. Leon Da'is Fri dav. Friends of the Davis family accompanied Mrs. Harold Davis to the rehabilitation center in Fayctteville to spend the day with her husband. Mrs. Archie Henderson accompanied Mrs. Sammy Evans and Steven to Jack sonville Friday afternoon on business. Mrs. Stephen Thigpen of Potters Hill accompanied Mrs. Odell Hall to KenanS ville Friday for a medical checkup. Lisa Hinson and Susan Oxley shopped at Vernon Park Mall in Kinston Tues day. Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Oxley Jr and Susan made a business trip to Clinton Wednesday. Mrs. John M. Simmons is vacationing with relatives in Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Cottle and family of Raleigh spent the weekend w ith Mrs. Shelton Cottle. Mrs. Paul Bolin enjoyed having all her children and randchildren with her Sun day. Rev. and Mrs. Garland L. Foushee are attending the Southern Baptist convention being held in New Orleans, La Nora Evans of Roanoke Rapids visited Mrs. Cora Sanderson Sunday. She came to Kinston to see her grand daughter. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Evans in Kinston. graduate from high school. Leo Nance ol Greensboro spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Powers and family. Johnnie Pickett, son of Mrs. Irene Pickett, gradu ated from Saint Andrews Presbyterian College in Lau rinburg and spent a few days with his mother, then left for Norfolk. Va.. where he is Faison News United Methodist Choir Entertained The Faison United Metho dist Church choir was treated to homemade ice cream, cake and sugar stars by Mr. and Mrs. Huron Crimes at their country home Wednesday evening following choir re hearsal. Attending were: Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Rouse. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brogden. Mrs. Alene McGowan. Mrs. Donnic Kennedy. Miss Tammy Outlaw. Murray Lewis. Miss Clyde Minshew and Rev. P C. Yelverton. Guy Speaks at Worship Service L.S. Guy Jr.. superinten dent of Duplin County schools, spoke at the worship service at the United Metho dist Church May JOth. which was dedicated to the young men and women of the church who are graduating from high school and college this year. Gift Bibles were presented to Chris Rouse and , Michele Warren, who are North Duplin graduates. Others recognized were Genetta Bradshaw Goodman from DNC-W. Douglas Lewis front Southeastern Community College in Whiteville. Billy Igoe and Jo Lynn Lewis from JSTC. and Jamie Miller from Wayne Community College in Golds boro. Preceding the service, the graduates were honored with a reception in the fel lowship hall. Baptist Meeting The W.M.U. of the Faison Baptist Church met Monday. May J 1st with eight members present. Mrs. Nellie Fcrland presided. Mrs. Helen Flowers gave the secretary's report and Mrs. Margaret Daughtry the trea surer's report. Mrs. Iris Cooper gave the devotional and was also in charge of the program. "Religions of West Africa." Taking part were Mrs. Mary Gilley. Mrs. Margaret Daughtry and Mrs. Stella Sutton. Mrs. Daughtry dismissed the group with prayer. working with handicapped children for six weeks. He will enter the seminary in Decatur. Ga. later. Mrs. C.L Raup was trans ported to Duplin General Saturday and is expected to be transferred to Duke Hos pital soon. Her brother. Bill Jones, has recently under gone surgery. Ellis Turner is recupera ting at home after being in Lenoir Memorial. Kendra Whaley has re turned home from a week's stay in Lenoir Memorial. Mrs. Lula Parker and Mrs. Sadie Thigpen are both home after hospitalization. Mrs. Callie Miller is re cuperating at home after a stay in Duplin General. Mrs. Rashie Kennedy is a patient in Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Mrs. Julian Williford is a patient in Lenoir Memorial. Harold Davis has been transferred from New Han over Hospital in Wilmington to the rehabilitation center in Favetteville. His friends will recall he was seriously in jured in a car wreck in front of the doctor's office ap proximately two months ago. Called Meeting A called meeting of all members named to the Sandy Plain Community Senior Citizens building committee is scheduled for Thursday. June 17 at 8 p.m. at the educational building of the church. On the com mittee are Ladin Lanier, L.M. Bust it. Joel Kennedy. Rev. Richie Kennedy. Ruffin Atkinston. Sandy Plain Senior Citizens Forty-eight members of the Sandy Plain Senior Citizens attended the June meeting. Mrs. Arthur Ken nedy was in charge due to the absence of Mrs. L.M. Bostic. Mrs. Kennedy was assisted bv her son. Dean. The usual picnic basket lunch was served. Rev. Rashie Kennedy returned thanks before the meal. Plans were made for a car pool group to attend the old Posey Houston restaurant in Kichlands on Saturday. June 2b. and will depart from the church by 4:30 p.m. There will be a meeting of the ba/.aar committee Tuesday. The building committee will meet Thursday night. June 17 at 8 p.m. For the program. Dean led in prayer and gave an interesting talk and led the choir made up of members of the group. Melba Sumner was the pia nist. Guest speaker for the next meeting will be Mrs. Nora Winstead and Morlene Rhodes and daughter. Lynettc and Sandv. will fur nish musical entertainment. Stork Shower On Saturday. June 12. Belinda and Terry Edwards were honored with a stork shower in the fellowship hall of Pinev Grove Pente costal Free Will, Baptist Church, Upon entering the hall. Mrs. Edwards was pinned with a pihk and blue car nation corsage. A small table covered with a pink cloth overlaid with a satin cloth draped at each corner with bows of pink and blue, displayed baby pictures of niuii icrr\ ana Belinda A budvase arrangement of white glads and red roses was plaeed on the table. The gift table cover was white and centered with the gifts and umbrellas. A basket resembling a bassinette with mixed flowers centered the table, w ith roses at the end of the table. The rcfreshament table also had a pink table cloth overlaid with a satin skirt. Cake squares were served with pink punch. Other refreshments of nuts, pickles, chicken salad, cheese straws and sausage balls. Hostesses were Betty Raynor. Louise Edwards. Carol Miller. Rovcne Home. Lillian Davis and Annie Hatcher.
