Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ed wards and Elaine Swinson of Jacksonville visited their brother and uncle in the hospital Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Swinson and chil dren of Jacksonville spent the weekend with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horne are home after a tour and vacation in the New England states. Betty Jean Cottle and Eleanor Sandlin were in Durham Monday for a medi cal check of Eleanors at Duke Medical Center. Mrs, Rod Peacock and Shannon of Dublin. Ga. are spending several days with her brothers and sisters in Potters Hjll. Mrs/ Peacock. Shannon, and /Julia Dean King, also Mrs. Andrews of 4 Lyman, shopped ill Kintton . Thursday. Stephen Thigpen was honored Sunday by his chil dren on his birthday with a dinner. Mrs. Dee Clark Blankford and children moved to Carr boro during the past week to make their home near the Chapel Hill area. Mrs. Blanklord and children have been living in the Clark home here for the past several years. She is a sister of Doug Clark and has another brother. Ted. who lives in the Chapel Hill area. Mrs. L.M. Bostic left Fri dav to visit her children, Rev. and Mrs. Ken Smith and Katrina and D'Andra. Rev. Smith is pastor of Harris Memorial Chapel of Greenville. Tenn. The minis ters conference is being held there and Rev. Smith will be ordained Thursday. He is the son of Mrs. Bostic and the late Willie Smith. His wife Connie is the daughter of Mrs. Glennie Houston of Potters Hill and the late David Houston. Mrs. Bostic will returned home during the weekend. Mrs. Nannie Finch ot Bailey spent the past week visiting Mrs. Phoebe Pate. Their brother. Mr. and Mrs. Foy Jones of Jacksonville, visited with them Tuesday. Wednesday they were at Topsail Beach with Dr. W.A. Pate and Joseph. Mr. and Mrs. Willard 1 Price and Mr. and Mrs. Rod Peacock and Shannon of Dublin. Ga. have returned from an extended tour into Canade. They visited Ottawa. Montreal, Quebec and Toronto. Niagara Fall, Hvannisport and the Amish area in Pennsylvania. Marie. Teresa and James Howard Brown were in Greensboro last week and the weekend guests of Jo seph and Mildred Woodie of Wilkesboro. Birth Anouncement Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Quinn of Route 2, Pink Hill, an nounce the birth of their son at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston. He has been named Shaun Ashley. Mrs. Quinn is the former Carole Fay Smith, daughter of Mrs. Eva Smith Brown and the late Freely Smith. Miscellaneous shower A miscellaneous shower was held at Gumbranch Church Saturday. July 31. honoring Miss Angelia Heath, daughter of Rev, and Mrs. Charles Heath of Goldsboro. It was given by her grandmother. Mrs. Minnie Benson assisted by Mrs. Alice Price. Mrs. Mary ? Brock and Mrs. Kay Brock. The table and room was decorated by Tynie Sumner in an array of red. white and green. The table was covered with a v rietv of refr ih ments. Angelia was accompanied by her fiance. Rusty Brown of Pollocksville. Sandy Plain Community Senior Citizens The Sandy Plain Senior Citizens met Saturday at the educational building. Fifty eight members were in at tendance. Thanks were re turned by Rev. Kennedy. In the absence of the president. Rev. Rashie Ken nedy presided. He asked the chairman of the building committee. Ladin Lanier, to give a report. Lanier announced that a plot of land had been secured and a ? building. Vallie Qxley red the minutes of the last meeting of the committee. He called another meeting of the com mittee for August 10. The next meeting will be Saturday.
