Tolsons in Goldsboro Tuesday. On Wednesday they visited Mrs. Peggy B. Mesdames Bess Baxlcy of l.aurinhurg and Hli/abcth Allen of Raleigh have been visiting Mrs. Faison Mc Gowen. Mrs. Idalie High of Wilson visited Mrs. Lloyd Terrell one day last week. Mrs. Sheldon Swann and Mrs. N.B Boney attended the golden wedding celebra tion of Mr. and Mrs. C harles B New kirk at the Harrells Community Building on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Dunn accompanied by Mrs. Ann ette Anderson and two chil dren went to Cratgmont last weekend and toured the sur rounding mountains. Garden Party On Saturday afternoon. Aug. 14. 1482. Mcsdames Horten.se I. Hasty. Jean f. Thompson and Shirley T. Costin. entertained at a garden party honoring their mother. Mrs. Sally Eva Tyn dall on her 7Sth birthday. Over KM) guests tailed to wish the honoree many happy returns of the day. As they arrived they were greeted bv Jean's husband. Crenshaw and Mrs. Tyndall. who direeted them to the refreshment table attractive ly arranged on the patio. Here they were served cake from one end of the table by Tyndall Thompson andf punch front the opposite ttncl by Sally Hays Thompson. Cheese wafers and salted nuts were also served. Others assisting in the serv ing were Lee Ann Costin and Birtainv and C'orrie Hasty. A color note of yellow and white with a touch of green was used in decorations and refreshments Among the out-of-town guests present were: Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Tyndall of Kinston. Mrs. Pearl Sutton of Faison. Mrs. Edwina Kor negay of Calypso. Mr. and Mrs. Listen Bryant of Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dilly of Dudley, and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Sasser and Charles Sasser of Mor ganton. Presbyterian Women Circle ?I of the Women of Grove Presbyterian Church met Monday morning. Aug. 9 in the fellowship hall of the church for its regular monthly meeting and Bible study. Miss Annie Catherine Rhodes called the meeting to order and presided The opening prayer was made by the Rev. David Dickey, after which Miss Rhodes moderated the Bible study with all present taking part. After the closing prayer by Mrs. Ralph Barwick. the group went to The General Store for an early lunch together. Here they were joined by the Rev. Anne Dickey and their baby girl. Heather Marie. There were eight present. Circle #2 met Monday night with Mr*. J.J. Well*. The meeting wat presided over by Mrs. Jack Sitterson and Mrs. Lloyd Stevens moderated the Bible study. The topic was "Stewardship and Institutions." For re freshments, Mrs. Wells, assisted by Mrs. Stevens, served blueberry salad and rit/ crackers to the eight present. United Methodist Women The afternoon circle of the United Methodist Women met Monday. Aug. 9, with Mrs. Alton Newton. The meeting was presided over bv Mrs. Vioia W. (Juinn. The program on "God loves a Cheerful Giver, was pre sented by Mrs. H.I), lavlor and Mrs. hloisc K. Ryder. At the close of the meeting, the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Walter Smith, served ice cream floats, cookies and cheese to the seven members and one visitor present. Klla Cooper Circle T he Klla Cooper Circle of the Women of the local Baptist Church met Monday night with Mrs. Jack Brinson at which time Mrs. Francis Oakley was co-hostess Mrs. Amos Brinson presided and Mrs. Jack Brinson gave the call to prayer. The program, on "What Southern Baptists are doing for Indians, was in charge of Mrs. Oakley. A social hour followed during which time the hostesses served ginger ale floats, cookies and salted nuts to the nine present. Eastern Star Mrs. Kli/abeth B. Simc one. worthy grand matron, and Dewey C. Crutchfield. worthy grand patron of the grand ehapter of North Carolina. Order of the Eastern Star, made their offteial visit to Kenansville Chapter #215 on Tuesday night. Aug. 10. Chapters serving as eo-hosts were Warsaw #122 and Rehoboth #126of Rose Hill. Proceeding the slated meeting, they were entertained at a covered dish supper. Here they were welcomed by Sally B. Tyndatl. worthy matron of the Kenansville ehapter. and the blessing was asked by J.B. Stroud, worthy patron of the Kenansville chapter. A program was given bv Sally W. Hlanchard of Rehoboth. during which time Margaret Strickland of Warsaw pre sented a love gift to Mrs. Simeonc and Perry Whaley of Rehoboth presented a similar gift to Mr. Crutch field. file honorees were also presented a corsage and boutonnaire. respectively. Special music during the meeting wterc two solos. "He Touched Me" was sung by the worthy grand patron and "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Gloria Brown, asso ciate matron of the Kenans ville chapter. Prior to ad journment. Edith Miller of Warsaw and Perry Whaley of Rehoboth presented hono rary memberships to the worthy grands from the three hosting chapters.
