If all goes well and the citizens of the Pink Hill area achieve ?ir goal bv next summer, there will be brand new medical facility and a full time physician serving the area. Under the auspices of the Duplin Medical Association, a doctor has been recruited and is designated to be in Pink Hill by July of 1983. Dr. Ed Little will finish his residency in Pennsylvania at Christmas Play Wendy Whitman's 5th grade class from Wake Christian Academy will per form a Christmas play at Christian Chapel Free Will Baptist Church on Sunday morning. Dec. 12. Wivervone in the area is llwited to come out and enjoy the performance and take part in a covered-dish dinner afterwards in the church dining hall. The church is decorated for the month of December with masses of beautiful red poinsettias, candelabra with burning red tapers holding traditional greenery, and window is laden with red idles and greenery. that time and has indicated that he intends to move to Pink Hill and begin the practice of medicine. A grant from the state can be secured by meeting certain requirements, and this is where all the citizens of the area become involved. In order to build and equip a $155,000 center (adequate for two physicians) the com munity must become involved and raise $30,000. Not only must the money be raised, but in order to show community approval and in volvement, it must come from a minimum of 450 families. A drive is being made to take advantage of this once in-a-lifetime opportunity be fore the end of the year. Persons from each neigh borhood arc being recruited to make contacts and secure contributions. Volunteers may phone Carol Sykes at the Pink Hill Town Hall at 568 3181. Your tax deductible contri butions can be made out to Pink HillMedical Center, Inc. and sent to P.O. Box 98, Pink Hill or delivered to the Pink Hill Town Hall or Turner and Turner Insurance Agency. Your contribution will not be an investment! The Pink Hill medical facility will be non profit. There will be no return to the investor or will any money be profited by anyone. The goal is to successfully complete this fund drive before the end of 1982. The Pink Hill medical facility is chaired by T.J. Turner, with Carol Sykes as secretary. The fund-ulsiiig committee co-chairmen are W.E. Brewer and Wilbur Tyndall. The medical action committee is chaired by Luther Ledford, with those listed as members, Charles Watson. L.C. Turner, John Lyles, Chris tine Williams, C.C. Turner, Kenneth Jones and R.L. Hood. Pink Hill Rurital Club Holds Ladies Night Installs New Officers The Pink Hill Ruritan Club held its 24th annual Ladies Night on Thursday, Dee. 2 at the Wagon Wheel in Beula ville. Thirty-six members and guests attended. President Donnie Taylor reviewed the club's activities for 1982 and introducted Ethro Hill for a special presentation to the club. Hill attended the district con vention and received four first place and one second place community service awards for the club, as well as the overall district com munity service award for 1982. Hill presented these awards to a surprised group of officers, members and their wives. John Worthineton presented the 1982 Ruritan of the Year Award to James "Butch" Edward Howard, an outstanding member. Worthington made com ments about Howard's work and participation in the many activities carried out by the club. Luther Ledford discussed the community project of securing a doctor for Pink Hill and asked the club to support the project. The club voted unanimously to support and to do whatever it could to help. The 1983 officers were installed by Worthington. They are Jerry Stroud, presi dent; Luther Ledford, vice president; Billy Sykes, sec retary; Ethro Hill, treasurer; Butch Howard, Manly Hatch. Dennis Howard and Donnie Taylor, directors. The Pink Hill Kuritan Club will celebrate its 25th an niversary on the first Thurs day in March, 1983. The club was organized by the Moss Hill Club in March. 1958. RURITAN OF THE YEAR ? The Pink Hill Ruritan of the Year award was presented to James E. "Butch" Howard by President Donnie Taylor.
