Tax Listings Tax supervisor. Frank Moore, reminds every person who owns any real or personal property of their duty to list all property with county listtakers during January. Duplin County has appointed listtakers in each township. It is the listaker's duty to get the property in their township listed during January and return the book to the office of the tax supervisor on Feb. 1. All owners of real property are being requested just this year to bring with theni their property deeds. The listtaker is being asked to check the deed book and page where the deed is recorded and to enter that information on the tax abstract. This informa tion is needed by the tax office to upgrade the infor mation on the property cards. The tax supervisor has instructed the listtakers to pay particular attention to alert anyone who may be eligible tor exemption of their home or household contents. Any person who is 65 years of age or oder or is totally and permanently dis abled. and whose total dis posable income for the pre ceding year did not exceed $4,000 is eligible for an exemption of the first $8,500 in assessed value <f real property owned or a mobile home, if occupied by the owner as his or her per manent residence and household personal property used in connection with his permanent residence. Appli cations for this exclusion are to be filed during the regular listing period, but they will be accepted at any time up to and through April 15 of the current year. The tax super visor would encourage all persons who may be eligible for this benefit to bring it to the attention of the listtaker. Anyone who has any ques tion concerning their tax listing is urged to either discuss it with the township listtaker or visit the office of the tax supervisor in the Duplin County courthouse.
