o'clock in the afternoon in the '
Warsaw Baptist Church. Officiating
. at the double-ring ceremony were
\ the Reverend Mitchell Rivenbark
and the Reverend James Harris Jr.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James M. English of
Warsaw. Her paternal grandparents
are Ms. Mabel English of Warsaw
and the late Steven English. Her
maternal grandparents are Mrs.
Esther Lanier of Warsaw and the late
Charles Davis Frederick Jr. Her
maternal great-grandparents are
Mr. Elisha Tyndall of Faison and the
late Mrs. Nora Tyndall; and Mrs.
Annie Frederick of Warsaw and the
late Charles Davis Frederick Sr.
The groom is the son of Judge and
Mrs. Stephen M. Williamson Sr. of
Kenansville. His paternal grand
parents are Mrs. Margaret William
son of Kenansville and the late D.S.
Williamson. His materanl grand
pa. cnts are Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert E.
Alphin Jr. of Mount Olive.
As the guests arrived for the
ceremony. Sherry Craig presiJ^d at
the register, while Creg Lindsay,
cousin of the groom, distributed
mementoes of the ceremony.
Acolytes were Kenneth Avent Jr.
and Vance Alphio Jr., cousins of the
groom.
A program of wedding music was
presented by Catherine Vestal of
Warsaw, organist for the church,
and Frankie Whalcy of Kenansville,
soloist, who sang "Through The
Eyes of Love" and "The Wedding
Song" before the ceremony. The
traditional wedding marches were
used.
Escorted to the altar by her father
and given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore a tloor
length gown with a chapel train of
ganza and alencon lace trimmed
with satht~5>ver taffeta. The fitted
torso bodice featured an off-the
shoulder neckline outlined with
al.-ncon lace motifs and elbow-length
puffed push-up sleeves edged with
an organza ruffle trimmed with
satin. Alencon lace etched with seed
pearls was lavishly appliqued on the
bodice. The floor-length flared skirt
extended into a chapel-length train.
Garlands of lace edged the double
tiered organza ruffle trimmed with
satin that bordered the hemline of
the gown. The bride chose a two
tiered waltz-length veil of illusion
with a scalloped hand-rolled edge
accented with matching lace motifs
etched with seed pearls flowing from
a Venise lace bandeau lavishly
encrusted with seed pearls for her
headpiece. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white daisies, pink roses,
white miniature carnations and
babies'-breath. She also carried a
handkerchief trimmed with pink lace
that had belonged to her maternal
great-grandmother, the late Mrs.
Nora Tvndall.
Nan Williamson of Kenansville.
sister of the groom, was maid of
honor.. She wore a floor-length gown
of candy chiffon over taffeta. The
fitted sleeveless bodice featured a
beau neckline with a yoke back
outlined with a double flounce. The
natural waistline was accented with a
candy satin ribbon bow and stream
ers. In her hair she wore pink daisies
and babies'-breath.
Bridesmaids were Lynn Pearsall of
Mount Olive, college roommate of
the bride; Karen Moore, Deneen
Maready and Suzanne Riddick, all of
Warsaw, and Jacqueline Carr of
Magnolia. Their dresses were
identical to that of the maid of honor.
Each of the attendants carried a
small fresh nosegay of dusty rose
and pink carnations, white daisies,
with white and mauve streamers.
Courtney Kilpatrick of Kenansville
was flowergirl. She wore a floor
length white eyelet gown with a
white satin ribbon bow and
streamers. She wore a white bow in
her hair and carried a basket filled
with spring flowers.
The groom chose his father as his
best man. David Gilbert Williamson
of Kenansville brother of th- groom,
served as chief usher. Ushers were
Gilbert Edwin Alphio III of Kure
Beach and Donald Lindsay Jr. of
Waynesboro, Virginia, cousins of the
groom; Robby Blanchard of Kenans
ville and Tom Logan of Oxford. The
groom chose a navy tuxedo with a
white rose boutonniere for iiis attire.
His attendants also wore navy
tuxedoes with pink rose bouton
nieres.
Steven English of Walterboro,
S.C., cousin of the bride, was ring ?
bearer. He carried a white satin
pillow trimmed in lace and white
satin ribbons. His attire matched
that of the ushers.
For her daughter's wedding, the
mother of the bride chose a formal
length gown of suede rose polyester
and taffeta. The "V" neckline and
long sleeves were accented with
suede rose lace. The groom's mother
was attired in an orchid lustreglo and
chiffon gown featuring a "V" neck
line, empire waist accented with a
self-fabric applique, and the sun
burst pleated skirt was enhanced
with a long flowing chiffon cape.
Each mother wore a corsage of fresh
white roses.
The bride's maternal grand
mother; Mrs. Esther Lanier, wore a
street-length short-sleeved dress of
blue and white linen. The bride's
paternal grandmother, Ms. Mabel
English, chose a short-sleeved
street-length dress of rose polyester.
I he groom's maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Eva Alphin,
wore a long-sleeved, street-length
dress of starburst blue with a pleated
skirt. The groom's paternal grand
mother, Mrs. Margaret Williamson,
wore a slong-sleeved street-length
dress of pink trimmed with pink lace.
Each of the grandmothers wore a
corsage of white carnations, while
each of the grandfathers wore a
boutonniere of a white carnation.
The bridal couple spoke their
nuptial vows before the church altar
that held an arrangement of spring
flowers. A fifteen-light candelabrum
stood on either side of the altar
accented with flowing greenery.
"The Wedding Prayer" was sung
as the couple knelt on a white profile
prie-dieu after the lighting of the
trinity candle and the service of holy t
communion.
The wedding was directed by Mrs.
Faye A. Williams of Beulaville.
Reception
Following 'he ceremony, the
bride s parents entertained at a
reception in the Powell Hall at the
church. Mr. and Mrs. Frank B.
Moore of Warsaw greeted the guests
and directed them to the refresh
ment table. A table, covered with a
white lace cloth, was centered with a

light pink roses. Mrs. Kaye Wil
liamson of Kenansville, aunt of the
groom, served the four-tiered cake.
Separate tables were used for the
punch and other refreshments which
consisted of chicken salad puffs,
cheese straws, fcdy fingers, sausage
balls, mints, nuts, and an assorted
fruits tray. Mrs. Elizabeth Frederick
of Garner, aunt of the brire. poured
the punch. Mrs. Janelle Ezzell and
Mrs. Gail Rivenbark of Warsaw
assisted.
The bride's wedding portrait was
on a separate table along with the
register and a single long-stemmed
pink rose. The goodbyes were said
by Mr. and Mrs. John A. Smith of
Faison
After the reception, the bride and
groom left the church in a horse and
buggy driven by David Gilbert
Williamson, brother of the groom.
Greg Lindsay, cousin of the groom,
assisted.
The bride is a graduate of James
Kenan High School and Campbell
University where she earned an
associate degree in legal secretarial.
She will be employed at Quinn
Company of Warsaw in the account
ing department.
The groom is a graduate of James
Kenan High School and Campbell
University where he earned a bach
elor of business administration de
gree. He holds a supervisor's ap
prentice position at National
Spinning Company in Warsaw.
' ,After a wedding trip to Myrtle
Beach and Charleston, S.C., the
couple wjll make their home in
Kenansville.
Other Entertainment
On Aoril 24. Lvnn' Pearsall and
Penny Joyner entertained the bride
elect at a miscellaneous shower held
at Bryan Hall, Campbell University.
Many college friends attended.
On May 16, Jacqueline Carr and
Suzanne Riddick honored the bride
elect with a kitchen shower held at
the Riddick home in Warsaw. The

hostesses were assisted by Mrs. Sara
Carr and Mrs. Marie Riddick.
Attending were many of the bride
and groom-elect's friends from
Warsaw, Kenansville and Magnolia.
Also attending were Mrs. Grade
English, mother of the bride-elect;
Mrs. Nancy Williamson, mother of
the groom-elect; Ms. Mabel English
and Mrs. Esther Lanier, grand
mothers of the bride-elect; Mrs.
Margaret Williamson and Mrs. Eva
Alphin, grandmothers of the groom
elect; and Mrs. Sarah E. Walton,
great-great-aunt of the bride-elect.
Many useful gifts were received.
On May 26, Mr. and Mrs. Linwood
Ezzell, Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Riven
bark, and Mr. and Mrs. John A.
Smith entertained the bride- and
groom-elect at a pig pickin' held at
the Ezzell home at Grove Creek in
Warsaw.
Robby Blanchard of Kenansville
entertained the bridal couple at the
Country Squire on May 30. Also
attending was Pam Yelverton of
Kenansville. The four took this time
to celebrate the upcoming marriage
of the bridal couple.
The bridal couple was honored at a
buffet supper on June 1 at the home
of the groom's grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Gilbert E. Alphin Jr. of
Mount Olive. The hosts and
hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Vance
Alphin, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lind
say, Dr. and Mrs. John Alphin and
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Avent.
Guests included the members of the
wedding party and families of the
aunts and uncles of the bride- and
groom-elect.
The bride-elect was honored with
a bridal luncheon on June 2 by Mrs.
Carol Moore and her daughter,
Karen. The event took place at the
Fireside Room of the Warsaw United
Methodist Church. The bride-elect
and the mothers of the bridal couple
received corsages from the
hostesses. Attending were Nan
Williamson, maid of honor; Lynn
Pearsall. Jacqueline Carr. Deneen
Maready, Suzanne Riddick, the
Mr. *?J>\
bridesmaids, Mrs. Panzi Kilpatrick
and her daughter, Courtney, the
flowergirl; Ms. Mabel English and
Mrs. Esther Lanier, grandmothers of
the bride-elect; and Mrs. Margaret
Williamson and Mrs. Eva Alphin,
grandmothers of the groom-elect.
The parents of the groom hosted
an after-rehearsal dinner party on
Saturday, June 2. at their home on
Stephen Street in Kenansviile. The
wedding party was invited for this1
occasion. After a steak cook-out with
all of the trimmings, the guests were
at leisure around the pool. The
groom-elect took this time to present
his attendants their gifts.
