* United In Marriage
Sally Hayes Thompson and Dr.
David Wayne Seignious were united
in marriage on Saturday, May 26 at
Emmanuel Episcopal Church,
Southern Pines.
The Rev. Samuel C. Walker and
the Rev. Philip R. Byrum of Albe
marle, the bride's former rector,
- officiated at the noon ceremony.
? The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James Crenshaw Thomp
son of Southern Pines.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. George William Seignious
III of Charleston, S.C.
Mrs. James R. Germany, organist,
performed a program of music for
the ceremony.
The bride, presented in marriage
by her parents, was escorted to the
altar by her father. She wore a
formal gown of white si'k, which
featured an off-the-shoulder bodice.
Both the puffed sleeves and the
bodice were accented with silk
flowers. The A-line skirt extended
into a small sweep train. The
chapel-length veil featured a custom
made headpiece made with silk
flowers which matched the gown.
The flowers were attached^ to a gar
land of pearls on the headpiece. The
bride wore her mother's pearls and
her pearl earnings were a gift from
the bridegroom.
She carried a cascade bouquet
which featured white gardenias,
white bridal roses and ivy.
The bride's sister, Jean Tyndall
Thompson of Charleston, attended
as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were
Sara Elize LeFever of Durham,
Karen Beauvais Register of Carr
boro, Margaret Everhart Hindman of
Charleston, and Linda Wade Nye of
Anderson, S.C.
The bride's attendants wore
gowns of pink taffeta which featured
off-the-shoulder ruffles of pink and
cherry taffeta with scattered pink
roses inserted in the ruffles. The
gowns also featured pink cummer
bunds. The bride's attendants wore
pink silk organza Victorian hats
which featured attached pink flowers
and streamers in addition to attached
veils.
The bridesmaids and honor at
tendant carried cascade bouquets of
gerbera daisies, white gardenias and
sweetheart roses.
The bridegroom's niece, Miss
Laura Katherine Williams of
Charleston served as the flower girl.
She carried a crocheted basket filled
with rose petals.
Serving as Crucifer and Acolyte
were Rob and Keith Byrum.
The bridegroom's father attended
his son as best man. Ushers were Dr.
James Thomas Hindman, Dr.
Charles Taylor Krescher, Dr. James
Eugene Shearer, and Robert Keith
Williams, brother-in-law of the
groom, all of Charleston.
Reception
Following the ceremony, the
bride's parents hosted a champagne
reception at the Southern Pines Elks
Country Club.
Miss Helen Parker and Mrs.
Andrew Page, both of Southern
Pines, kept the guest register. The
bride's aunts, Hortense Hasty of
Kenansville and Shirley Costin of
Warsaw, served the three-tiered
cake.
Greetings and good-byes for the
reception were said by Mr. and Mrs.
Elbert Legg of Whispering Pines and
Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Sasser of
Southern Pines.
Music for the reception was pro
vided by Bun Stubbs.
Prenuptlal Events
The bridegroom's parents enter
tained at a rehearsal party held on
the eve of the wedding at the Manor
Inn in Pinehurst.
The bride's parents hosted an
informal cookout at their home on
Thursday evening, entertaining
members of the wedding party.
On Wednesday, May 9 the bride
elect was honored at a luncheon in
Kenansville. Hostesses for the
luncheon were Wilma Pate, Hilda
Booth, Bobbie Pigford and Macy
Brinson.
The bridesmaids' luncheon was
given on Friday, May 25 at the Mid
Pines Resort in Southern Pines.
Hostesses for the luncheon were the
bride-elect's grandmother, Sally
Tyndall, Jeanette Hasty and aunts,
Hortense Hasty and Shirley Costin.
"he bride is a 1977 graduate of
Pinecrest High School, Southern
Pines. She received a. Bachelor of
Science degree in nursing from
Western Carolina University in 1981.
She has worked at Roper Hospital in
Charleston, S.C. for the past three
years.
The bridegroom is a 1976 graduate
of Middleton High School in Charles
?* ton. He received his bachelor's
degree from Emory University in
Atlanta in 1980. He recently gradu
^ ated from the Medical University of
1/ South Carolina in Charleston.
The bridegroom will begin his
V,' residency in internal medicine in
early July at New Hanover Hospital
2Pt in Wilmington.
