teaching baton, modeling, dancing,
playing the piano, listening to music,
meeting new people, being with her
family and friends and playing with

Gina Lynn Herring
Gina Harring. a rising junior at
James Kenan High School, is the
daughter of Virginia and Alfred
Herring. She has brown hair, green
eyes and stands 5'3". Gina's special
training in the arts include eight
years of dance and two years of
piano. At James Kenan she is a ?
varsity cheerleader, on the student .
council, was Student of the Month
for February, and is a member of the*
Unicom Drama Gub and the mono
gram club. Gina's hobbies are
dancing, singing, cheering, skating,
swimming, talking on the tefcphone,
and spending time with friends.
Sony* Michelle Crmnford
Sonya Cranford, a 1984 graduate
of South Lenoir High School, is the
granddaughter of Carl and Iris
Aidridge. She has brown hair, brown
eyes and stands 5'5". Sonya's
training in the arts include voice
lessons, participating in the Musical
Revue and drama. At South Lenoir
she was a cheerleader, member of
the monogram club, Future Teachers
of America, drama club treasurer,
and the French club president.
Sonya's hobbies are singing, water
and snow skiing and being with
friends.
Tina Long?
Tina Long, a rising senior at
James Kenan High Scnooi, is the
daughter of Elbert and%etty Long.
She has blonde hair, bljie eyes and
stands 5'6". Tina's sp^ial training
in the arts include 13 years of dance
training, seven years ot piano, iu
ycafs of baton, and she has attended
summer dance workshops for six
years. At James Kenan she is a
member of the James Kenan
Chorus, the All-County Chorus, the
James Kenan Unicorn Drama Club
Lorraine Carol Howard
Lorraine Howard- a 1984 graduate
of Kinstorf High School, is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell
Howard. She has blonde hair, blue
eyes, and stands 5'6". Lorraine has
had special training in public speak

and working on skits. At Kinston
High, she was a teacher's aide, bus
driver and on the Speakers Forum.
Lorraine's hobbies include cross
stitching, reading, public speaking,

Wendy Lynette Hill
Wendy Hill, a rising senior at
South Lenoir High School, is the
daughter of Vicky Stroud and Mike
Hill. She has dark brown hair, blue
eyes and stands 5'4". At South
Lenoir, Wendy was a member of the
drama club, chorus club and in 'the
"Musical Revue." Wendy's hobbies
include singing, swimming, dancing,
softball and water skiing. No picture
was available of Wendy. ?
Crime Of
The Week
Kinston police officers are investi
gating a June 1 break-in at the
residence of Stanley Carlton Melvin
at 1502 Cedar Lane. According to
reports, someone entered by a
window on the south side of the
house.
Items reported missing were a
gold wedding band, a Kappa Alpha
Phi fraternity pin, a gold and
diamond necklace, a pair of white
gold earrings, a 21-jewel Bulova
watch, a calculator and a 35mm
Olympus camera lens. Total value of
the items stolen was $1,290.
Lenoir County Crime stoppers will
pay for information leading to the
arrest and indictment of the burglar
or burglars. The amount of the
reward depends on the seriousness
of the crime and value of the
information.
Anyone having information in this
crime or any crime is asked to call
Crime Stoppers at 523-4444 week
days from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Callers
need not give their names. All callers
remain anonymous.

Approve Reward Money Payments
The Lenoir County Crime Stoppers
Board of Directors at its June 7
meeting approved reward money
total.ng $475. The money will be
paid for information that wa., re
ceived through the Crime Stoppers
program.
The Lenoir County Crime Stoppers
program was started March 1, 1984
by the Lenoir County Chamber of
Commerce. Since the program was
started, six criminal cases have been
solved and $26,110 in stolen property
and drugs have been recovered. The
progam is one that pays cash
re . ards foe information leading *to '
the arrest and indictment of a
criminal. The amount depends on
the seriousness of the crime and
value of the information.
Jeffrey Barwlck
The United States Achievement
Academy announced that Jeffrey
Barwick has been named a 1984 U.S.
National Award winner in agricul
ture. This award is a prestigious
honor very few students can ever
hope to attain. In fact, the Academy
recognizes less than 10 percent of all
American high school students.
Jeffrey, who attends South Lenoir
High School, was nominated for this
award by Jesse Thompson Jr.,
agriculture instructor at the school.
Jeffrey will appear in the U.S.
Achievement Academy Official
Yearbook, published nationally.
Jeffrey is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Morris Barwick. The grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Kirl Barwick of
Deep Run and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Garland Noble Sr.
