Fry has been an instructor in the power mechanics program, which specializes in automotive and diesel mechanics, since 1966. He and his wife. Joyce, reside in Beulaville. Mt. Olive College Names New Personnel Dr. W. Burkette Kaper, pres ident of Mount Olive College, an nounced the appointment of James E. "Jimmy" Williams of Mount Olive as vice president for college affairs. Williams will assume the duties of the office effective August I. Williams, a native of Lenoir County, has been a Mount Olive resident since I960. He received an A.B. in social studies from Atlantic Christian College and M.A. in education administration from East Carolina University. As an educator Williams has ? taught and coached a Walstonburg School in Greene County, and Mount Olive High School. He was the first assistant principal at Southern Wayne High School and was princi pal from 1968-1971. From 1971-1981 Williams was headmaster of Wayne County Day School. He has served as field representa tive of the Finance National Congres sional Club, and president of Coali tion for Freedom in Raleigh. Williams has served as president of the Mount Olive Lions Club, Rotary Club and Boys Club. He and his family are members of the First United Methodist Church where he serves as a Sunday school teacher, a choir member and has recently been named to North Carolina Conference Board of Education. Williams and his wife. Frances, have two children. Karen, a 1982 graduate of Mount Olive College and James, Jr., a student at Wayne Country Day Schl. Warsaw Native Named College Dean Methodist College has hired a scholar of Renaissance and 17th century literature from Bennett College as its new academic dean, replacing Dr. Fred Clark who died in earlv June. Dr, Mary Lynn Veach Sadler, a native of Warsaw, assumes her duties at Methodist August 15. Sadler served as head ot Bennett College's English Department and as director of the Division of Human ities. She has previously held faculty positions at A&T University, Drake University, Agnes Scott College and the University of Illinois. As academic dean at Methodist, Sadler will coordinate all academic activities, develop new academic programs and evaluate the academic progress of students. A 1962 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, Sadler also holds graduate degrees from the Univer sity of Illinois. She has done post doctoral study at UCLA, Byrn Mawr and Balliol College of Oxford Univer sity. Sadler has authored four books and more than 25 articles. Her books include "John Bunyan," "Thomas Carew," "Consolation in 'Sampson Agoniste'" and "Margaret Drab ble." She is currently working to develop a new software program called "Basic Skills" for Bell and Howell Inc., and frequently serves as a micro-computer consultant. Sadler is a 1971 recipient of the Drake University Extraordinary Undergraduate Teaching Award and is a member of several professional organizations, including National Council of Teachers of English and Modern Language Association, and Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.
