ville Jaycees will man the satellite
telephone bank during the 7th
Annual Cystic Fibrosis Telethon.
The satellite station will be for the
convenience of area citizens who
would like to support the telethon
eft >ri without having to make a long
dic,ance call. Co-sponsored by the
Nev, Bern Javcees ar-t Jaycee Wo
men and WCT1-TV, Channel 12, the
telethon will be aired for 19'/) hours
beginning at 11:00 p.m. on Friday,
August 17th through 6:30 p.m. on

Mobile Office To Visit Duplin
congressman Charlie Whitley's
Third District Mobile Office will visit
Duplin County on Tuesday, August
7, 1984. Mr. L.J. Outlaw, the
Congressman's field representative,
will be manning the office and will be
available to persons having matters
that they wish brought to the
Congressman's attention. Location
and times are as follow: Chinquapin,
V.jO a.m. til 10:30 a.m., Post
Office;Rose Hill, 11:00 a.m. til 12:00
noon, Post Office; Warsaw, 12:30
p.m. til 1:30 p.m., Post Office.
The Mobile Office is subject to
prevailing weather conditions affect
ing travel.
Bus Washing
Johnny McGowan and James Pearsall have spent their summer washing
school buses at the county bus garage. They began working at the task June
25 and will work until August 12. There are 140 regular buses and several
activity buses. It's been a long hot summer, but that money is going to come
in good this winter. Pearsall is on top of the bus and McGowan is on the
bottom.
Chinquapin Post Office Hosts Open House.
Office Celebrates 100 Years
On Saturday, July 28, 1984, Chin
quapin Post Office had open house
to celebrate its 100th birthday.
Approximately 125 guest at
tended. Postmaster Allen Warren
Lanier and employee's Lonnie Thig
pen, rural carrier, Joyce Norris, clerk
and Darlene Hatcher, substitute
rural carrier, greeted the guest
during the open house.
The Chinquapin post office was
established on July 28, 1884 and the
