NORTH CAROLINA HEALTH REGULATIONS
FOR POULTRY EXHIBITIONS
1. All chickens and turkeys for exhibiton in North Carolina shall
originate from U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent flocks, or
have a negative pullorum-typhoid test within ninety (90) days (30 days
for out-of-state birds) of the date of exhibition. All North Carolina
owned birds must be tested by agents of the North Carolina Depart
ment of Agriculture. For North Carolina birds and for out-of-state
birds from U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean states, these test re
quirements may be satisfied by a negative test conducted by a North
Carolina Department of Agriculture agent at the time of entry. (Birds
with positive reactions will be placed under quarantine and can be
moved only on permit to a quarantined premise. Out-of-state birds
cannot be returned to the state of origin except under quarantine and
with permission of the chief regulatory official of that state.) The fee
for pullorum-typhoid testing at the exhibition will be six cents per bird
with a minimum fee of $1.00 per exhibitor. Fair committee will cover
this cost.
2. Poultry for exhibition shall not have been vaccinated with a live
virus vaccine within the last 30 days.
3. Each bird must be identified with a "tamper-proof" band at the
time of the pullorum-typhoid test. A copy of the pullorum-typhoid
;hart must accompany birds to exhibition.

by a representative of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
Birds will not be accepted which are infected with or showing any
clinical signs of a contageous disease or are infested with lice and/or
mites.
5. Out-of-state birds will be admitted provided they are from an area
that is not under quarantine for an infectious disease and satisfy the
above requirements.
6. The secretary of each show will furnish the representative of the
State Veterinarian with a list of names and addresses of all exhibitors
at the time of the exhibition.
7. The secretary of each show will have these requirements printed in
the show catalog or premium list.
