will be paid to the late Mrs. Vernette
Bryant, long-time chairman of the
life membership committee. "Every
American, and especially every
Black American, owes a debt of
gratitude to the NAACP that can
never be repaid," says Wilkins.

Ruritans met Tuesday at Capt.
Willie's Seafood Restaurant in
Clinton for their August meeting.
Most of the business session
consisted of plans for the district
convention to be held Nov. 3 at East
Duplin High School. Registration
will be at 1 p.m. with the banquet
scheduled at 6 p.m. The Albertson
Club is sponsoring the convention.
All clubs are urged to mail in their
community service reports by Oct. 1
