The children and grandchildren of
Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Davenport of
the Sarecta community are honoring
them on their golden wedding anni
versary on Saturday, Oct. 6, from
three until sis o'clock at the Sarecta
United Methodist Church.
Sandy Plain Senior Citisens
The Sardy Plain Senior Citizens
will meet Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
in the educational building of the
church. Rev. Orvin Everett, pastor of
Cabin Free Will Baptist Church, and
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Houston will
be in charge of the entertainment.
Mr. and Mrs. Kim Maready of
Hallsville were given a miscella
neous wedding shower Sept. 25 by
friends and relatives at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Olen Maready.
The color motif used was green
and yellow. The table was covered
with a yellow cloth overlaid with
beige lace, with a center arranee
ment of yellow flowers, greenery and
a green bow. Refreshments of green
punch, open-face chicken salad and
pimento cheese sandwiches, onion
dip, crackers, party min's, potato
chips and pickles were served to the
approximately 25 friends who called
during the evening.
Sandy Plain Bazaar
The annual bazaar of the Sandy
Plain senior citizens held Sept. 22
was a success and enjoyed by many
who attended and took part. Plates
of barbecued pork and fried chicken,
potato salad, slaw and hushpuppies
were served until the pork ran out at
1 p.m. By the time the auction got in
full swing, all the chicken had been
sold. Local singing talent groups
sang gospel songs during the morn
ing. The country store, arts and
crafts, and other activities were
enjoyed. Rev. and Mrs. Ed Neal
provided entertainment for the
children. Several children groups
sang. Cakes and other items were
auctioned by Todd Tripp and Roy
Pittman, auctioneers of Pink Hill.
State Fair Trip
The Services to the Aged is
sponsoring a State Fair trip on
Monday, Oct. 15. The senior citizens
will need to be at the Kenansville
Senior Citizen Center by 7:30 a.m.
The Trailway bus fee will be $8.35
per person and the money should be
prepaid by Oct. 5 in order to reserve
your seat on the bus.

as soon as possible. You will need to
have an application to the agency to
verify you as a senior citizen and the
name of a contact person in case of
emergency, and their phone num
ber. For more information contact

Senior citizens of the Sandy Plain

to attend this function.
