Archery And Hunter Safety Shooting The Archery and Hunter Safety Shooting tournament for Duplin County Schools was held on Wed nesday, Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. at Kenansville's Turkey Stadium. Students were to test their marks manship in bow and trap shooting as a county fair exhibition. Participants have been taught safe gun and bow handling, game laws, safety rules and sporting ethics, and have passed the N.C. Hunter Safety examination. This safety course is taught in ninth-grade physical education classes. N.C. Wildlife Hunter Safety Officer Wilton Pate and local wildlife officers were on hand to enforce safety rules and correct tournament procedures. These students are serious sports men. Many of them will compete in the state tournament in April and could possibly win ah invitation to national competition. You are invited to support your school team and see a fine exhibition of shooting skill Wednesday afternoon. Co-Rec 1 Volleyball i Tournament Planned In Warsaw There will be a Co-Rec Volley ballTournament Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14 at Thompson Gym at the Warsaw Recreation Department. The Tournament will benefit Ron ald MiDonald House and is spon sored by the Kenansville Jaycettes. AH Co-Rec teams are invited to enter. Ten first and second place trophies will be awarded to the top two teams. Entry fee is $55 for the round-robin tournament. Should the tournament be changed to a double elimination, the entry fee will be lowered. The games will run all day Saturday and after lunch on Sunday.
