Pro Frank Morgan called to let us know a Captain's Choice twe-man tournament is on tap at Rockfish of Wallace October 13-14. ????? Fore. ED Travels To Midway Hobbton Hosts James Kenan TIGER FIELD: Coach Billy Byrd's fighting Tigers completely outclassed a scrappy Midway eleven Friday night in Warsaw, 42-14 in an ECC clash. It was the third straight win for Byrd's team and kept them tied for first in the ECC 2-A race with Wallace-Rose Hi!! with a 3-0 mark. James Kenan's defense gave another sterling performance as they cut down the Raiders' air attack and had the ground game under fire all night in one of the most outstanding exhibitions seen in years at Tiger Field. Defensive coordinator Coach John Barrows had James Kenan just about ready for anyone in the Midway game. Of course. Coach Byrd's crop of running backs, led by All-ECC Mickey Faison, will prob ably stack up with the best in the school's history. Faison, the most outstanding back in JK history, rushed for 197 yards and scored three touchdowns in the one-sided win over Midway. Another star in the JK attack, Bruce Dixon, rushed for 112 yards and scored a TD. Shane Crenshaw got in the act with a 2-yard score and Tim Hooks returned a punt 70 yards to add to the JK runaway. Deep Run: Wallace-Rose Hill ran all over South Lenoir 40-0 Friday night in an ACC game. The win kept the Bulldogs tied with James Kenan in the conference with a 3-0 record. Coach Jack Holley's team is unde feated with a 5-0 mark. Wallace-Rose Hill, a second-half scoring machine, led 7-0 at half, but Johnny Johnson added a couple, Kevin Alderman scored, Glenn Bradshaw scored on a fumble and Kevin Williams hit Rickey Brown on a 30-yard TD. Greg Carter kicked four extra points. Clinton: Quarterback Clarence Un derwood put on a one-man show rushing for 131 yards, including a 66-yard TD run in directing Hobbton to a 17-6 ECC win over Union. In other ECC action Don Pate rushed for 139 yards to race past LaVewood 26-10, as the L bels of North Duplin picked up their second win. Support your school. Joe Costin Results Wallace-Rose Hill 40.
