The Pink Hill native has been with the bank since 1974 when she ini tially started in Beulaville. She has experience in stallment and commercial lending. She attended South Lenoir High School and Lenoir Community College. Ms. Norris is a director of the Lenoir County American Institute of Banking. Jackie resides at Route 1, Pink Hill, with her children, Kimberly, 16, and Michael, 12. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon H. Taylor Sr. of Pink Hill. , Birth Announcements Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Whitfield announce the birth of their son, John Ashley on August 29, 1984 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston. The paternal grandparents are the late Clifton and Hazel Whaley Nobles of Kinston. The maternal grandparents are Eithel Grady of Pink Hill and the late Lucille Grady. Lenoir To Observe National Lunch Week The Lenoir County schools will be joining others across the nation in celebrating National School Lunch Week, Oct. 14-20. This special ob servance marks the 22nd year of the American School Food Service Asso ciation's emphasis on the national school lunch program in the public schools. "Many things have changed in the past 22 years, and our school lunch programs have changed, too," ex plained Mrs. Marva Brown, child nutrition director. "Many schools now have multiple choice menus as ?well as food service programs fea turing salad bars, soup bars, sand wich bars, potato bars, a-la-carte lines and self-serve lines." Students now have input into the program, sIk also noted, for many students are involved in YAC pro grams ? Youth Advisory Council groups ? that work with food service personnel. Various nutrition educa tion programs are also offered in the classrooms. This year's theme. "Chamnion? rrf Nutrition," is the third year of a year emphasis on "School Lunch: America's No. 1 Energy Source." The theme focuses on the idea that true champions are well-rounded in all areas of life with athletic ability, an appreciation of the arts, scholastic ability, a blue-ribbon winning atti tude and tender loving care. The National School Lunch Menu features food to "fuel a growing body" with items named to reflect the emphasis on becoming true champions: Marathon spaghetti, an Honor roll, Maestro tossed salad, Blue Ribbon fruit, Honey-Oatmeal Raisin cookies and TLC milk.
