NC 2^349 r Receives Funds For Emergency Food And Shelter Program Lenoir County has been selected to receive $24,838 to supplement emergency food and shelter pro crams in this area. The county chapter of the American Red Cross will function as the administrative staff and fiscal agent for the program. The qounty money is part of the $70 million appropriated by Con gress to the Emergency Food and Shelter program, created to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country. A local appointed board will award grants to various local governmental or private voluntary organizations that meet the guidelines specified bv the EFSP. To qualify, an organization must: be non-profit, have an accounting system and conduct an annual audit, practice non-discrimination, have demonstrated the ability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter pro grams. and. if a private organization, they should have a voluntary hoard. Crime Of The Week Kinston police officers are investi gating a break-in which occurred between Nov. 17 - 19 at the Big Blue warehouse on East Vernon Ave. According to reports, someone ? entered by cutting off a lock on the door. Reported missing were three Duro Craft wood sanders, 24 Aladdin Kerosun heaters, number 95; two Turco gas grills, four Homelite HG 600 generators, and ten Duco Craft screwdriver sets, number SW7. Total value of the items stolen was $3,605.02. Lenoir County Crime Stoppers will pay for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the burglar or burglars. The amount of the reward depends on the seriousness of the crime and value of the information.
