The holiday season in Kenansville is special. In
this peaceful little town, Christmas is returned to
earler times in spirit and feeling. Church bells
ring, the homes in this historic town display
creative decorations of yesteryear, candles
twinkle from windows to welcome all, and the
people renew again the true meaning of the
season. THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
IN HISTORIC KEANSNV1LLE is a series of
activities and events that capture the unity and
spirit of a community with all age groups in mind.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14
THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS offi
daily begins with church bells and chimes
ringing in the holiday season. Lighting of the
community Christmas tree at 7 p.m. in the
Municipal Park is followed by a bonfire, caroling
and a hayride. Refreshments will be served at
Grove Presbyterian Church.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15
An evening of music presented by Clarence
Palmer, visiting artist at James Sprunt Technical
College. Palmer is a jazz pianist. He invite-; the
public to join the evening of Christmas sounds at
St. John s Lodge. The special TWELVE DAYS
OF CHRISTMAS evening with Clarence Palmer
v begins at 7 p.m.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16
The expression of Christmas joy continues
through a fresh greenery wreath workshop. The
worksnop features techniques for making your
own Christmas wreaths. Instructor. Thelma
Murphy, encourages the public to gather live
greenery and join the workshop in the Duplin
Agricultural Extension building at 3 p.m.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 17
Story night at the Dorothy Wightman-Duplin
County Library features the oldest, the newest,
ano' the all-time favorite Christmas tales. The
Duplin County Friends of the Library invite the
public to join the story-tellers in the Dorothy
Wightman Library for a special evening of
Christmas entertainmment beginni'ij at 7 p.m.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18
Join the Community Christmas covered-dish
supper in the Kenansville Elementary School
cafeteria at 7 p.m. Share your picnic basket and
favorite dishes with the community. Movie magic
begins immediately after the Yuletide feast
featuring a classic comedy film.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19
The James Kenan District Band, under the
direction of Jim Hayes, and the James Kenan
District Chorus, under the direction of Melanie
Morgan, will present a Christmas musical
program in the Kenan Memorial Auditorium at 7
p.m. ,
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20
Cartoon night with the Kenansville Jaycees
begins at 7 p.m. in the Kenansville Elementary
School. In a special presentation, the Jaycees will
offer a Christmas celebration through cartoon
favorites for all ages.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21
THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS cele
bration of the birth of Christ through a live
nativity pageant begins at 7 p.m. in the
Kenansville United Methodist Church.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22
Family night of the celebration encourages
home holiday decorating and spending time with
relatives. THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
offers this special evening to renew family bonds
and prepare your home with last minute holiday
decorations.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23
Liberty Hall open house 1-5 p.m. The historic
southern home will be decorated for the Yuletide
Season in the period of the early 1800s. The
decorations will feature the use of a variety of
greenery, and fresh fruits and vegetables.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 24
The Christmas Eve celebration will offer a
combined community church service at the
Kenansville Baptist Church. The Reverend
Lauren Sharp is the guest speaker for the
community service beginning at 7 p.m.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 23
Christmas Day.
