Crime Of The Week
Lenoir County Sheriff's deputies
are investigating an armed robbery
of the KLOC Service Station on N.C.
Hwy. 11 North at 7:10 p.m., Dec. 1.
According to reports, Kirby Loftin,
store owner, and employee Horace
Byrd were in the store when a Black
man entered the store carrying a
yellow kerosene can. He asked one of
the men to fill it and then allegedly
pulled a single-shot sawed-off shot
gun and told them to give him all
their money.
The robber took the men's wallets
and an undetermined amount of
money from the cash register. He
told the employees to walk to the
back of the store and a shot was
discharged from the shotgun striking
Loftin in the left thigh. The robber
then ran from the store. He was
described as 5 ft., 9 inches tall,
slender build, wearing dark rimmed
glasses.
Lenoir County Crime Stoppers,
Inc. will pay up to SI,(XX) for
information leading to the arrest and
indictment of the robber. The
amount of the reward depends on the
seriousness of the crime and value of
the information. Anyone having
information in this crime or any
crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers
at 523-4444 weekdays from 7:30 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Callers need not give their
names as all callers remain anony

Thanks To Liberty Pageant
I would like to say thank you for
the opportunity to compete and
become Junior Miss Liberty. 1 had
such fun meeting new friends and
being with them during the practices

excitement on the night of the
pageant when I received the crown
and became Junior Miss Liberty.
This has truly been one of the most
exciting experiences of my life and
one that I will never forget.
During the year of my reign, I will
try to fulfill the duties and obli
