on Feb. 15 to sponsor an area
meeting for those interested in the
use of wood in home construction.
The day-long meeting. which will be
held at the Wilmington Hilton Inn,
will be sponsored by the N.C. Home
Builders Association and the N.C.
Agricultural Extension Service.
Mae H. Spicer, Duplin County
home economics extension agent,
said the purpose of the meeting is to
offer builders, architects and others
interested practical information on
the use of wood in home construc
tion. Emphasis will be placed on cost
and energy-saving building tech

mation could save builders from $150
to $500 in the construction of an
average house. It could also result in
the wood lasting longer and being
more satisfactory to the homeowner.
She also said that the Wilmington
meeting is one of 10 such planned
across North Carolina in late January
and February. Speakers will come
from the extension service at N.C.
State University and the American
