Again, here are just a few "19th Hole" golfing highlights that helped create some interest in and around the links in Duplin County during '84. Most of the golfing things come from (he four clubs in Duplin Couniy. Clubs include Longmeadow CC down between Pink Hill and Beulaville, Duplin CC between Warsaw and Kenansviile, Lakewood CC halfway between K'ville and Magnolia, and Rockfish CC down at Wallace. To start '84 off on Ihe right foot. Magnolia's father-son combo of Bill and Billy Potter won the annual Polar Bear GiJf Tourney over at DCC. Wallace's superstar Jim Russ wins first Super Sunday Superball (SSS) held at Rockfish. Durwood Rivenbark scored the first hole-in one, followed by Niles Harrell down a' Rockfish of Wallace. . .the first HIO the season. Top lineup as '84 super-golfers in Duplin County were headed by RCC's Harry Carlton, DCC's Buster Johnson, LCC's Bill } Potter and LoCC's Butch Budd. . .not a bad foursome on any links.
