Fun-and-laughter was the name of the game as contestants (men dress ed as ladies) appeared on stage m evening gown, swim suit and talent competition. It is impossible to describe the stunning beauties. Contestants were Ray Smith as Twiggy Ray, Gene Lee as Sassy Gene Seymour, Simon Quinn as Sweet Simone, Claude ? Willie as Claudette C. Ducer, Dur ^wood Register as Pretty Pearlie, Harvey King as Hard-hearted Hannah, Robert Allen Ives as Roberta Lynn, Buddy Gray as Chesty Morgan, and Chris Berg as Christine Burlesque. Sassy Gene Seymour, better known as Gene Lee, sponsored by Trenton Apparrel, took the Mr. Rainbeau crown. Twiggy Ray, or Ray Smith, was first runner <ip. Lee, a resident of Route 2, IK t ~*un, won in the talent division an 1 ? ^otured the crown as well. Hats off to all your Beaus or Belles for one of the most enjoyable evenings ever. Thanks, boys. Lenoir Chamber Solicits Volunteer Nominations The Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce is again asking for nomi nations for Volunteer Service 0 awards. The award is designed to recognize those who do so much but receive so little recognition. Reci pients need not be members of the Lenoir County Chamber of Com merce. Awards have been presented since March, 1983. All nominations will be considered valid for a 12-month period. Nominations may be sub mitted at any time during the calendar year. ? The award is presented monthly to those individuals or groups who have rendered or are rendering outstand ing volunteer service. The actual service need not have been per formed during the month that the nomination is made, but preference will be given to nominees who are PINK HILL FIRE ft RESCUE DINNER The Pink Hill Fire and Rescue will )sponsor a barbecued pork and chicken dinner beginning al 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 9th. Proceeds will go to buy much needed equip ment. Anyone wishing to donate pigs, chickens, potatoes, cabbage or cakes, etc., should call 568-4526 by ?fe still involved in ongoing volunteer service. Taylor, a cancer patient, was born and raised in the Pink Hill area. He is the brother of James O.A. Taylor of Albritton Crossroads and serves as a retired employee of Weeks Construction. Taylor has been hospitalized numerous times in the last eight or nine months and hospital bills have accumulated to some $100,000. The Taylor Benefit is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 2 with barbecued pork and chicken with all the trimmings to be served.
