Movie Club Is A Big Hit In Warsaw After two weeks of operation 86 movies from the club started by ^ Graham and Vicky Hood of Warsaw ? had been rented for weekend view ing. The club is located in the Western Auto Associate Store of the Hoods, and carries 150 movies which include 25 of the top 40 releases on the market today. The remainder include movies from Walt Disney, the Three Stooges, Amos and Andy, Abbott and Costello, and some of the old classics. Plans to expand the club movie selection are on order, Hood ) said. An additional 100 movies, including more olden golden clas sics, comedies and current top box office releases are in the offing. Among those planned to be received in March is "Gone With The Wind." "People are becoming more movie conscious than ever before," Hood said. "The interest in the movie club has really been overwhelming. People are really hungry for enter tainment in this area. "I would really like to see a theatre in Warsaw," he said. "I don't think it would hurt the movie club. "Movie Studios feared the release of films on the public market would hurt the theatre attendance, but it did not," Hood said. "The release of current movies^lo the home market actually increased theatre attendance." The major advantages of the movie club, Hood pointed out, are the cost and convenienof>ef home viewing. The club h^ar a one-time membership fee of/$25 and movie rentals are $2.50 over night. Rental of the VCR can also be arranged through club membership. VCR to play the movie, rentals are $5 a night. However, many homes already have the VCR, Hood said. A trip to the movies for a family of four, which includes dinner before the theatre, could cost $40 or more. Hood said. "At that price." Hood said, "if you don* i own a VCR, one could be renied, a membership fee could be paid, and four movies rented for that $40. "And, the viewer gets to watch ihe movie when he wants to," he s?id, "and as many times as he warns." Hood also pointed out that movies are released six months earlier to the home market than to cable television theatre channels. The average cost of movie tapes are $60, Hood said. And, the cost of the movie tapes makes the club membership a good deal. Also, the Hoods offer a 10 percent discount to club members on VCR equipment sold at their store. And, the purchase of a VCR at the Hood's store entitles the customer to membership in the movie club. According to Hood, the movie selection is good and includes movies of all ratings but X. And, in March the selection will increase by 100 movies.
