You vt better come.. .around five-thirty. . Fore. Miller Retires After 20 Years At Camp Lejeune Joseph H. Miller, a native of Kenansville, has recently retired as a barber from Camp Lejeune after 20 years of service. Joseph is married to Martha Miller and has four children and nine grandchildren. He is very active in many religious and civic organiza tions. He has served in leadership capacities as chairman of the Kenansville First Baptist Church Trustee board, two terms as worship master mason, active consistory Lodge member, and NAACP member. Joseph has enjoyed working on his farm as a pasttime. He plans to continue his farm activities. He also plans to travel and participate in more community services. Joseph's philosophy is that if you give to the world the best that you have, then the best will come back to you. i Seniors Receive Athletic Scholarships Pictured above, left to right, Ronnv Cottle. Kirk Thicoen and Ivev Matthews represent three different athletic programs at East Duplin. Each of the seniors received an athletic scholarship. Ronny is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cottle. He will attend Lenoir Community College in the fall on a golf scholarship. Ronny was a member of the East Duplin golf team four years and received the Most Valuable Player award two seasons. Kirk Thigpen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Thigpen. He will attend Elon College on a football scholarship this fall. Kirk played three years for the East Duplin Varsity football team and during that time was named All-Conference and Most Valuable Player and served one season as captain.
