Tar Heel Fine Arts Society Announces 1985-86 Concert Series ? The Tar Heel Fine Arts Society has selected four outstanding attractions for the 1985-86 season. They are the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats and Magicians of Taipei, The Steel Bandits, the Burlington Boys Choir, ai)d the Mantovani Orchestra and Thomas Booth. ; A membership campaign is now underway to support these fine eopcerts. Further information and season tickets may be obtained from Apny member of the Tar Heel Fine Arts Society Board ot Directors. The Tar Heel Fine Arts Society is Unique among cultural organizations in the state because it is county oriented. Membership if composed of individuals interested in cultural fctivities who annually support the association. The Society has at least one representative from each area of Duplin County. Season tickets are $12.SO for adults and $5 for students. Burlington Boys Choir The Burlington Boys Choir is the oldest organization of its kind in North Carolina to have been continuously sustained in training and performance. Forty boys between the ages of eight and 14 comprise mis choir and come from 15 schools in Burlington and Alamance County. Membership in the choir, which was founded in 1959 by Eva Wiseman who still directs, is warranted because of exceptional sinoine voices, high personal academic standards, musical ability and conscientious application to the choice training program, The Burlington Boys Choir will be the April 26, 1986 presentation of the up-coming Duplin County Fine Arts Society season. Golden Dragon Acrobats And Magicians The widely recognized Chang family has been con?.idered the very best in all of China for their Chinese variety entertainments. Such feats as ring of fire and swords, pagoda of chairs, precision juggling, the dancing lions and Others are performed with the skill and precision that have been popular for _over 2,000 years. The Duplin County Fine Arts Society presents the Chinese ^jQlden Dragon Acrobats and Magicians of Taipei as the October 29 entertainment in the up-coming season. Mantovani Orchestra And Thomas Booth Where does the magic of Mantovani come from today? What is it that still brings applauding audiences to their feet? Simply-the music. The orchestra, polished and skilled, performs brilliantly a program to remind us lovingly of all our yesterdays. Combine this with the magical voice of Thomas Booth and you have a winning combination. In addition to touring with the Mantovani Orchestra, Thomas Booth is performing with the Metropolitan Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He has most recently appeared in the Boston Concert Oprea production of NORMA, singing the role of Pollione.
