Grist Eddinger were united in mar riage at a seven o'clock candlelight ceremony in the First Presbyterian Church of Concord on Saturday, October 12, 1965. Dr. James B. Holderness, minister of First Pres byterian in Concord, and Dr. R. David Hoffelt, minister of University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, officiated at the double-ring cere mony. Parents of the bride are Dr. and Mrs. Victor Bradshaw Holland Jr. and the late Baxter Franklin Black Jr. She.is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elmer G??ds0t> Mount Olive and the late Mr. Goodson, and Ms. Dee Ward. The bride's paternal grand parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Franklin Black Sr. of Marsh ville. The bride is a graduate of Concord Hig|i School. Davidson College, and Duke University Law School. She was-the first Cabarrus County coed to attend Davidson, where she was a Chafles A. Cannon Jr. Scholar and a Lunsford Richardson Scholar. The bride graduated cum laude from Davidson with a major in economics in 1J182. In May, 1985 she received the Juris Doctor Degree from Duke and'was sworn in as an attorney in Mecklenburg County in October, 1985. She is an attorney with Barnes, Tomberlin and Black of Charlotte. The bride represented Mecklen burg in 1980 and represented North Carolina as Miss North Carolina 1980, traveling over the state as good will ambassador. She was named among the top five from 11 states in the Maid of Cotton in 1979 held in Memphis, Tennessee. She was also a talent award winner in Miss America in 1980. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Frederick Eddinger of Spencer, and the grandson of Mrs. Claude Kennedy and the late Mr. Kennedy, and the late Mrs. Alice Grist Eddinger of Spencer. A dean's list student, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science, where he received a N.C. Merit Scholarship from the John Motley Morehead Foundation. He graduated from the Wake Forest University Law School, where he received the Juris Doctor Degree. He has a orivate law oractice in Salis bury. He was formerly employed as counsel for the Department of Agri culture and Commissioner James Graham in Raleigh. Musicians were Mrs. John Hugh Malone, organist, and soloists Mrs. Joe Gaskey of Kannapolis and A.L. Vickers Jr. of Concord. Selections included "O Lord Most Holy," "Thanks Be To Thee," and "I'll Walk With God." Trumpeter was Dr. William D. Lawing of Davidson College, David son. Escorted by her brother Baxter Franklin Black III of Ojai, California, the bride wore a Priscilla gown of candlelight silk satin designed with a portrait neckline and low rounded back, basque fitted low waist bodice ovaling from front to back of the jiown. The bodice was overlaid with silk imported Alencon lace with appliques extending over the waist line. The full cap sleeves extended in a slim wrist closed with miniature covered buttons and loops with lace appliques over the end of the sleeves. The wide flared train ended in a sculptured hemline of silk lace. A tiara of French lace, pearls and crystal appliques held her cathedral length, rolled edge veil of French illusion. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis. bhe wore a gold ring belonging to her grandmother, Mrs Goodson. Maid of honor was Pamela Nisbet McWhorter of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Bridesmaids were Miss April Charlene Eddinger of Spencer, the groom's sister; Ms. Lynn M. Gilleland of Tampa. Florida; Ms. Avis K. Goodson of High Point, aunt of the bride; Mrs. Linda Lundin Mahoney of Charlotte, cousin of the bride; Mrs. Cynthia S. Owens of Chapel Hill; Mrs. Sandra Lundin Sellers of Concord, cousin of the bride; Ms. Dakeita Vanderburg, also of Concord; Ms. Silda Alice Wall of New York City; and Ms. Lauren J. Wirthlin of Nashville, Tennessee. The attendants wore royal blue satin original long gowns designed by Louise Goodman. The gowns had a cut-away sweetheart neck front with a fitted bodice ending in a V-hipline and similarly cut open back bodice. The full gathered sleeve fitted on the edge of the shoulders with shirring above the elbow and fitted to the waist. The skirt was softly gathered. Each attendant car ried a bouquet of Sonya roses, yellow daisies, gypsophila and greenery. Flower girl was C. Nicole Owens of Chapel Hill. She wore a gown designed like the attendants' of royal blue bridal satin. Jeremy Brice Satterfield of Greensboro served as ring bearer. Best man was Dr. Eddinger, father of the groom, of Spencer. Ushers were: Neil Greene Beard of Chapel Hill, Greg Dennis of Sylva, Rodney L. Eddinger of Spencer, brother of the groom; Rick Godby of Spencer, Tim Mitchell of Carrboro, Charles E. Monteith of Matthews, James Michael Nussman of Arling ton, Va.; J. Anthony Penry of Chapel Hill, and Dr. Ivan Spector of Houston, Texas. Honorary attendants were: Frances Black of Ojai, Calif., njece of the bride; Lucinda Fisher of Kan napolis; Tracy Howell of Greenville, cousin of the bride; Laura Oxendine and Holly Shelton of Kannapolis Presiding at the guest register were Victoria Jane Aiken of Kan napolis and Elizabeth Lahr Tucker of Concord. Distributing wedding pro grams were Merrimom Crawford of Chapel Hill and Karen Bunton, also of Chapel Hill Mrs. John Knox Hillman of Concord was wedding director. The mother of the bride wore an original gown of silver grey georg ette and a symbidium orchid. The mother of the groom wore a gown of silk crepe with a drape on the side and added a cymbidium orchid. The grandmother of the bride and the grandmother of the groom received orchids. Godparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. R.Don Eftrd and Mrs. Harold Cashion of Kannapolis. Reception Dr. and Mrs. Holland hosted a reception at their home in Kanna polis immediately following the wedding ceremony. Assistaing with the reception were the bride's aunts, Miss Dotty Goodson of Orange, City, Fla. and Ms. Nina Goodson of Mount Olive, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Booker of Norfolk, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Tuck Gudger from Asheville. From Con cord assisting were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob McGee Jr., Mrs. Guy Beaver Sr., N-'es. John Foard, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Garrison, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde >, Farrell, Mr. and Mrs. M.B.
