Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for community and junior college students. Mrs. Hill is in the college's business computer programming curriculum. She and her husband Kenneth have two children. To qualify for membership into Phi Theta Kappa, a student must have an overall 3.0 grade point average and must have earned at least a 3.5 during one quarter of study. All proceeds went to help the blind and the handicapped. BAZAAR AND LUNCH The Deep Run Free Will Baptist Church will have their annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 2. S3, a native od Deep Run, has served as part-time flexible clerk in the Deep Run post office for the past 1 16'/> years, 1 Postmaster selections are made on the basis of metit from a list of qualified candidates submitted to tfte sectional center manager by a review 1 committee. The review committee, composed of a sectional center director from the same sectional center, a postmaster from the same sectional center, and a sectional center director from a different sectional center, review the appli cants for the position and 1 recommend to the sectional center manager those candidates who best meet the position requirements. The sectional center manager then selects and recommends to the regional postmaster general the best qualified person for appointment to the vacancy. Mrs. Hill attended Mt. Olive College and is active in several local I civic organizations in the Deep Run * area which include the fire de partment ladies auxiliary, and the Eastern Star. She and her familv are ilso active in Smith's New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Deep Run. She is married to Andrew J. Hill, also a native of Deep Run. Hill teaches school at South Lenoir and is also a Baptist minister. They have twodaushters. Saborah Hill Smith of Seulaville and Theresa Lynn who attends East Carolina University. mmm-- < w wmmm Tammv Rouse Rouse Elected To Student Government Tammy Rouse of Deep Run has been elected to serve in the student Government Association at Lenoir Community College in Kinston. Ms. Rouse is enrolled in the pre-nursing college transfer program. Ms. Rouse is a 1985 graduate of South Lenoir High School. While there she was a member of the HOSA parliamentary procedure team, winning several district, state and national awards. She is the daughter of Danny and Linda Rouse of Deep Run. Registration Books Close For School Referendum i he registration books for the Doc. 3rd school bond referendum will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 for all eligible residents of Lenoir County. While the registration books are not closed to residents of Kinston, LaGrange and Pink Hill for the upcoming municipal elections, they are nevertheless still open to any of these eligible residents for the school bond referendum. Voters in LaGrange can register at the Fire Station in LaGrange and voters in Pink Hill can register at the Fire Station in Pink Hill on Friday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to4 p.m. Anyone can register or make their changes at the Board of Elections office, located in the Multi-Purpose Building, 110 S. Heritage St., Kin ston, through Monday, Nov. 4 from 8:30 a.m. toSp.m. daily. The registration books are open for: new registration for those who have never registered in Lenoir County and for those who will have been residents of Lenoir County for 30 days by Dec. 3rd. Anyone registering for the first time will need to bring proof of birth such as a drivers license, I.D. card, birth certificate or family Bible. Purged voters need to re-register. We are again inviting you to participate in the Christmas Parade by sponsoring a girl for the M>ss Merry Christmas contest. Your sponsorship helps make our parade a big success, said Jeffery Turner. This year there will be a maximum of 20 girls participating in the contest. It is very important for you to return your entry form with the fee of $25 as soon as possible to ensure your position in the parade. The entry fee of $25 covers the cost of the girls' luncheon, trophies and corsages. However, this year the girls will be responsible for their own posters. Blanchard of Warsaw, will partici Ipate in the Miss North Carolina American Dream Girl pageant in ? High Point Nov. 1 and 2. Kristin is entered in the Baby Doll division of the pageant for 1- to 3-vear-old girls. The competition will include sportswear, party dress and swimsuit for Baby Doll contestants. The pageant includes six age divi sions from Baby Doll to Miss North Carolina American Dream Girl, age 17-24 years.
