Society ^ Bridal Couple Honored A miscellaneous shower was given recently at the home of Mr. and Mr*. L.B. Carter of Beulaville for bridal couple-elect Karen Ann Carter and Marvin Bouchette. Hostesses for the shower were Shirley Carter, Sherry - Hinkle and Lacie Taylor. Refresh ments of cake, chicken salad on crackers, nuts, potato chips, dip, pickles and coke were served. Karen and Marvin received many gifts and enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone. A miscellaneous shower was given for the couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Sports of Georgetown, S.C. Hostesses were Marcin Sports, Alice McDaniel, Kathy Goodwin and Stella Cameron. Refreshments of nuts, candy, cake, vegetables with dip, and punch were served. The couple received many nice and useful gifts. Karen and Marvin were honored with a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Goodwin of Georgetown, S.C. The hostesses were Kathy Goodwin, Sheila Brown, Glisa Taylor and Beulah Taylor. Refreshments consisted of chicken salad sandwiches, nuts, vegetables with dtp, candy and punch. A bridal shower was given recently for Karen Ann Carter at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Carter of Beulaville. It was given by Sherry Carter Hinkle. Refreshments consisted of potato chips with dip, nuts, candy, pickles and coke. The couple will make their home in Georgetown, S,C. A pig-pickin' was given in honor of Karen and Marvin on Nov. 16th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Carter, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Carter. Many relatives and friends attended. Delta Kappa Gamma Meets The Alpha Eta chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society held its Christmas breakfast meeting and bazaar on Nov. 23 at Britt's Seafood Restaurant near Mount Olive. The invocation was given by Hazel Ruth Kornegay and Susan Carter was responsible for the music. Hostesses were Janice Grady, Shirley Outlaw, Nina Garner, Hazel Kornegay, Nellie Davis, Charlotte Dupree, Vicky Davis, Mary Anna Grady and Rachel Hatch. ; Mrs. Joni Jones, a native of the South Pacific island of Tonga, was introduced by Charlotte. Mrs. Jones gave a very interesting and infor mative talk about the role of women in Tonga. Afterward she delighted the group as she performed a hula dance from her native island. Crafts and confections were brought by members and Mary Anna Grady entertained as she auctioned off the donated items. The proceeds from the auction will go to the scholarship fund. Janice Grady pre sided in the absence of Rachel Hatch, president. Bouchette-Carter Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Carter of Beulaville are pleased to announce the engagement and plans for the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Karen Ann Carter, to Marvin Bouchette Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dowie M. Bouchette of Georgetown, S.C. The couple will exchange their vows on December 7th at five o'clock at the Piney Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Route 2, Beulaville. JSTC Oil Painting Classes The continuing education depart ment of James Sprunt Technical College will be offering two oil painting classes. The first class began Dec. 4 and ends March 12, meeting on Wed nesday from 12:30; to 4:30 p.m. The class will be on campus in the Hall Building. The second class will meet on Thursdays starting Dec. 5 and end March 13. This class will meet from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at the Wallace Recreational Department. Both classes will be taught by Ms. Callie Creel, who has taught oil painting for many years. Registra tion will be $19 per person . Christmas Craft Workshop Duplin County 4-H is sponsoring Christmas craft workshop for youth ages nine and older. The workshop will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6-9 p.m. at the Agricultural Building in Kenansville. Crafts that will be taught include grapevine wreath, punched tin plaque, hand-stenciled guest towels and Chi istmas tree ornaments. This is a chance to learn heritage crafts while making gifts and Christmas ornaments. Cost for the workshop is $4 which includes supplies to make alt four crafts and refreshments. Each child will complete all four crafts. For more inforamtion, call the Duplin County Agricultural Extension office at 296-19%. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
