Coach Tom Jones of Hoke County High School in Raeford has also been selected to head the East staff, along with Jimmy Tillman of Southwest Edgecombe High School of Rocky Mount. Coach Byrd has an overall 59-28 record at James Kenan in the last eight years as head coach. He has won three East Central Conference Football championships and one co-championship, and has been selected as Coach of the Year four times in the ECC, plus his teams have also won four track championships.. .not bad for any league. James Kenan Principal Bill Taylor, a former coach in the East-West game, was very pleased that Byrd had been selected to coach in the top football game in the state. Billy King King Works For Eagle Award Billy King, Eagle Scout candidate, poses with several 55 gallon drums that he and many volunteers have prepared as trash collectors. They are being placed in strategic loca tions in and around Pink Hill. This Eagle Scout project was approved and will be maintained by the Town of Pink Hill. Billy is presently a Life Scout with Troop 244 in Pink Hill and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. King. Bassmasters End 85 At Trent River The Duplin County Bassmasters attacked the Trent River on Nov. 17 for the last club tournament of 1985. The last tournament was a combi nation of three tournaments in one. First, It was the regular monthly individual club tournament, second it was a club challenge match, and third it was a two-man team tourna ment. Earl Pike. Joey Quinn, Danny Herring of Kenansville; Marty Bliz zard, J.M. Strickland, Jimmy Bliz zard of Beulaville: Ski Bodzinski and Ernie Gray of Chinquapin; Jerry ? JUckburn and Pat Matthia of Warsaw carried the banner for XTBM and finished in second place >nly six ounces out of firt place in the :lub challenge competition. Danny Herring and Jerry Black urn teamed to win the team portion f this three-part tournament. The irst place finish was worth $100 for he winning team. The 1985 season was verv en oyable and all bass club members an feel a sense of satisfaction, but he 1985 schedule is already on the Irawing board so we cannot be omplacent.
