The following cases have been
disposed of :
Ada Williams." and Nettie John
son, two negro women, were con
victed of assault "with deadly wea
pons and sentenced to one year each
in the county jail, with privilege
to hire out.
Weston Jones submitted and was
sentenced to twelve months on the
county roads.
William Mitchell submitted to the
charge of carrying a concealed wea
pon and was dismissed on the pay
ment of costs.
James Holderficld,-" Will Holder
field and Ernest Ilolderfield submit
ted to conspiracy against R. A. Sea
grave and paid the costs in the. case.
The same defendants and Seagraves
also submitted to the charge of an
affray and paid the costs. These
are the cases that arose over the
summoning of road supervisor, to
work the road.
A true bill was found against Ray
mond I). Rynum, charged with the
murder of J. IT. Alford in this city.
Before the regular criminal docket
was taken up Tuesday niorn'ug an
order was made granting Mrs. Nana
Sasser an absolute divorce from her
husband, W. II. Sasser, on the
grounds of abandonment and giving
her the custody of the child.
A final order was ;o made in the
case of Nannie P. Jones et al. vs.
Lucv P. Jones confirming the sale
of lands for $1,500 to W. Nor
wood and directing the distribution
of the funds.
Herman Brown entered a plea of
guilty of assault with deadly weapon
and a line of $10 and costs was imposed.-
The case of Winnie Norris and
Len Weathers for larceny was order
ed continued on account of the
smallpox cases.
Jim Lowry was found not guilty
on an appeal from a magistrate's
court and anotlier ease pending
against him "was 'viol prossed by the
solicitor.
Lawrence Henry, Sam Henley and
Braddock Allen were .'acquitted of
the charge of robbery. The cases
were nol prossed without going on
trial at all.
John Wright, of Fayetteville, en
tered a plea of guilty of forcible
trespass and a fine of $25 and a sen
tence of two years in the county
jail with the privilege to hire out
was imposed.
Herbert Pope was acquitted of the
charge of carrying concealed weapon.
S. W. Lowry submitted to the
charge of obstructing the road superintendent-in
'the discharge of his
duties and was discharged on the
payment of the costs. This is the
case in which Lowry threatened to
shoot Superintendent Allen if he
persisted in oneninff a new road
through his land in obedience to an
order made by the county conunis
sioners.
James Rogers and Dexter Bobbitt,
both colored, were found guilty of
stealing a pair of pants lrom lla
Seligsons store on Wilmington
street, and Rogers was found guilty
of stealing a pair of pants from J
Rosengartcn.
