On Sunday Observance.
Correspondence of the Enterprise. '
To County Commissioners and All:
Permit me to say a few words in
defense of our county and country at
large. I wish to submit a plea for
forcing the observance of the Sabbath
day (Sunday).
Gentlemen, friends, citizens, ladies
and especially all who claim Chrls
tion faith, have you all abolished the
Holy Bible as a standard and have
you forsaken its teaching, "To re
member the Sabbath day to keep it
holy;" to do no work on that day (of
course things of necessity excepted) ;
neither, teams, servants or anything
for the manual labor for what you
get out of it in the way of money-,
making? Is it possible that you have
taken up an almanac as a standard
and thrown the Bible on the trash
Bible? Had it not ought to be as
right to open up and keep open gro
cery stores as drug-stores for tho
purpose of money gain? Don't you
believe a person can, and does, live
longer and better buying meat, flour
and other things of necessity than
he can on cool drinks, tobacco,
cigars, cigarettes and things which
are not beneficial or life-giving V
Don't you know if you do evil, and
also teach your children so (by acts
in 'life), that you are sending them
to hell as fast as you can?
Read the Bible; remember the
tenth commandment especially in ob
serving Sunday.
What about the fifth chapter of
Matthew ; also James 4 : 1 7 ; and then
see if you can, with a clear consci
ence, allow the laborers on the new
railroad and elsewhere to continue
work as steadily on Sunday as other
days? The Bible teaches that God
ought to be served rather than man;
but I see, and everybody else that
tries to see, sees that man serves
money rather than anything else.
Why is it? Don't you know if you
gain the whole world and loose your
soul that all is lost just the same?
Think on these things and put laws
to observe the Sabbath, and then ap
point some one in various sections as
reporters so as to be abe to enforce
the laws.
What are laws good for anyway if
not enforced?
Dear friends, lay down "Barker's
Almanac" and the money as our gods
and take up the Bible, God's law,
and guide ourselves by something
that will stand, and we can rest with
a clear conscience.
Remember the rich young ruler
as spoken of in the Bible. He loved
his riches more than all else. Do
you know what Christ told him? T
want to see the day come when all
unnecessary work will cease on Sat
urday and everybody, as well as all
beast of burden, can rest on Sunday
as the Lord intended as spoken of
in His Commandments.
Come together now and let's en
force the Sabbath to be observed and
quit doing as the Lord forbids and
teaching the younger generation so.
It is ruining them by preparing them
for hell as well as making your
selves assured of ruin by your own
responsibility and as well as being
responsible for teaching others to do
wrong. Don't put this thing off any
longer if you claim any God at all.
Hoping you will observe God'3
laws this much and take God for our
Lord instead of money and mankind.
I am for what is right in Christ's
name.

Everybody
Satisfied
You will be satisfied, and so will the buyer of
your tobacco if you improve the quality and increase
the weight of your tobacco by using 500to 800 lbs. of
VirginiaCarolina Fertilizer
per acre, ten days before planting. These fertilizers
give an early start to the plant, which very soon
grows large enough to withstand the ravages of insects.
Soils that under ordinary conditions would make a yield
of poor, papery tobacco, lacking in gummy or oily matters,
will produce a very high type of tobacco by liberally using
these fertilizers. 1
Get from your dealer one of Virginia-Carolina Fertilizer
free almanacs. Its a beauty, and full of information on
farming.
